Belfast to host IV Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Championship
Dundonald International Ice Bowl in Belfast, Northern Ireland (Nov. 22-30, 2008)

With the generous patronage of Belfast City Council, the
IV Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Championship will be staged from 22-30 November 2008 at Dundonald International Ice Bowl in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Bowlers, officials and supporters throughout the Commonwealth will be invited to Belfast to participate in this year’s event and the IV CTBC is expected to attract teams from up to 20 Commonwealth nations.

A 'gentle giant' who had dreamed of playing tenpin bowls for his country has died in Australia on the eve of his full international debut. RAF Sergeant
Lez Rogers, 38, flew to Melbourne with wife Kay just days after they celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary. But before father-of-one Lez, ranked as Wales' top male tenpin bowlers last year, had a chance to play in the
Commonwealth Championships, he collapsed on an evening out with friends.

George Frilingos of Australia and
Fiona Banks of England won the prestigious Masters titles to end the 3rd Commonwealth Tenpin Championships at Altona OZTenpin Bowl in Melbourne, Australia. In two close title matches, Frilingos topped Mohd Noer Said, Malaysia, while Banks defeated Canadian Jennifer Willis-Park.

Canada wins Team Gold at III Commonwealth Tenpin Championships
Barrett and Putney claim titles in All Events

Team
Canada won the gold medal in the Team event at the III Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Championship in Melbourne. Australia took silver and England bronze.
Dominic Barrett from England and
Ann Maree Putney from Australia claimed the titles in the Men's and Women's All Events. The top 12 men and women advanced to the Masters finals.

Fiona Banks to win the gold medal in Mixed Doubles at the 3rd Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Championship in Melbourne, Australia with a record-breaking individual series. Australia captured the silver and bronze medals.

The England duo of
Katie Jowsey from Wakefield near Leeds and
Fiona Banks from Sheffield top-scored with a combined pinfall of 2419 for six games, an average of 201,58, to take England's second gold medal at the Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Championship in Melbourne, Australia. In the men’s division, Malaysia’s Doubles team of
Mohd Noer Said and
Isaac Russell stormed home in the final two games to clinch gold with 2546 six-game total and an average of 212,17.

Jon Zadel starts Commonwealth Championships with victory in Men's Singles

26 year-old
Jon Zadel from the Midlands in England struck gold in the first event of the III Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Championships, the Men's Singles played on long oil, with a total of 1314 for the 6-game block. Bahamas' national champion since 1999,
Sonith Lockhart won the silver with 1253, while Australia's
George Frilingos clinched the bronze by a single pin to finish on 1247.

Ann Maree Putney defends Women's Singles title at Commonwealth Championships

Defending Commonwealth Tenpin Championships Singles champion
Ann Maree Putney of Australia won the 2006 event with a 220.50 average, including high games of of 258 and a 1323 pinfall.
Caroline Lagrange from Canada earned silver for the second time, just 34 pins behind Putney on 1289, an even closer result than the 67 margin in Cyprus.
Choy Poh Lai from Malaysia took bronze.

George Lambert IV and Shalin Zulkifli end II Commonwealth Championship with victory in Masters
Cosmic Bowling Center in Paphos, Cyprus
Canadian George Lambert IV and Shalin Zulkifli from Malaysia, won the gold medals in the men's and women's Masters to end the II Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Championship at Cosmic Bowling Center in Paphos, Cyprus. Lambert topped Alex Liew, Malaysia, in three games, 2-1, en route to win the first gold medal for Canada. In the women's Masters finals, Zulkifli swept Caroline Lagrange, Canada, in two games, 2-0, to win the title. Bronze went to Zulmazran Zulkifli, Malaysia, and Ann-Maree Putney, Australia.
