Øien and Reviglio win 30th European Champions Cup

2007ECCIngunnOieMarcoReviglio_small.jpg Ingunn Øien, Norway and Marco Reviglio, Italy won the women's and men's titles in the 30th European Champions Cup sponsored by Ebonite. Both players led the field from 40 countries after 24 games qualifying to earn the No. 1 seed for the 8-player match play finals in best-of-three games format. Øien (pictured with coach Pepe Engström) swept Therese Forsell, Sweden, and Reviglio swept Thomas Gross, Austria, 2-0, in the title matches.

Claude Legrand, Host Tournament Coordinator of the 30th European Champions Cup sponsored by Ebonite (formerly known as European Cup for Individuals) will welcome players from record 40 countries to the championship which will be held at X-treme Bowling Center in Foetz, Luxembourg from September 1 through 23, 2007.

Sixth-seeded Annika Kilander (right) from Sweden swept Norway's Heidi Thorstensen, seeded fourth, two-games-to-none, to claim the women's title.

On the women's side, day one leader Fiona Banks, England, averaged 226,25 on the final day of qualifying to regain the lead and to earn the No. 1 seed for the best-of-three games single-elimination match play finals.
