Team USA players selected for international events

TeamUSALogo_small.jpg Team USA will send what is arguably the best group of players it has ever assembled to take on the world in international competition this year. Selected to compete for Team USA at the Men's World Championships, scheduled for Aug. 20-31 in Bangkok, Thailand, are Denny's PBA Tour stars Walter Ray Williams Jr., Chris Barnes, Tommy Jones, Patrick Allen and Rhino Page as well as veteran amateur Bill Hoffman, who helped lead Team USA to the team gold medal at the 2006 event with a 300 game.

'Dream' Team USA comes together for training camp

Players for MWC in Thailand will be selected this weekend

TeamUSALogo_small.jpg Arguably the greatest collection of bowling athletes to wear the same uniform have assembled this week for Team USA men's training camp at the U.S. Olympic Training Center and the Fort Carson bowling center. Legends like Walter Ray Williams Jr., Parker Bohn III and Del Ballard Jr. Established tour stars in Tommy Jones, Chris Barnes and Patrick Allen. Young guns Sean Rash, Rhino Page, Derek Eoff, David O'Sullivan, Nathan Bohr and John Janawicz. Team USA veterans like Bill Hoffman and David Haynes. At the end of the week, the six men who will represent Team USA at the Men's World Championships in Thailand this August will be selected.

Team USA'S Barnes, Rash, O'Keefe to take part in super bowl event

Trio to help with NFL Charities/Strike Ten Celebrity Classic and youth clinic

2007PITSeanRash_small.jpg 2007USBCQShannonOKeefe_small.jpgUSBC Team USA members Chris Barnes, Sean Rash (l.) and Shannon O'Keefe (r.) will be among the celebrities participating in the third annual Super Bowl NFL Charities/Strike Ten Celebrity Bowling Classic on Jan. 31. They will coach and put on exhibitions for the more than 40 NFL legends who will participate in the event open to amateur bowlers prior to Super Bowl XLII. Proceeds will benefit the Youth Education Town initiative in Phoenix, part of the NFL's commitment to make a positive impact in the host city of each Super Bowl. The NFL donates more than $1 million annually toward the project.

Eoff, O'Keefe win USBC Team USA Trials

2008TeamUSATTDerekEoffShannonOKeefe_small.jpg After waiting anxiously last year to see if he would be one of the selections to join Team USA, Derek Eoff (l.) was determined to avoid that situation again this year. Eoff jumped from fourth place to first in the last game of the 2008 United States Bowling Congress Team USA Trials on Friday, claiming the title with a 36-game pinfall of 7,997 (222.14 average) and securing a spot on Team USA for the second consecutive year. Shannon O'Keefe (r.) came out on top in the women's division with 7,730 (214.72 average) at Sunset Station's Strike Zone Bowling Center.

Ballard, O'Keefe on top at Team USA Trials

Shannon O'Keefe, leads the women with 5,843.  Ballard holds a slim lead over Derek Eoff, who is second just nine pins back while John Janawicz is 18 pins off the lead.  Tina Stickney, who had a string of 18 games of 200 or better dating back to Tuesday, moved into second place, trailing O'Keefe by 29 pins.  Competition concludes Friday with the last of four nine-game blocks.

O'Keefe named finalist for Oregon's Top Athlete in 2007

Breakthrough year for Team USA member nets Oregon Sports Awards nomination

2007WWCShannonOKeefe_small.jpg Team USA's Shannon O'Keefe, a native of Oregon City, Ore., has been named a women's finalist for the 2007 Harry Glickman Professional Athlete of the Year Award, an honor bestowed upon Oregon's top athlete for the calendar year. O'Keefe, 28, had a breakthrough year in 2007 - highlighted by her singles gold medal at the Women's World Championships in Monterrey, Mexico, and runner-up finish at the U.S Women's Open. In the U.S. Women's Open quarterfinals, she rolled a 299 game - nationally televised on ESPN - to defeat fellow Team USA member Stefanie Nation.

Eight Team USA spots up for grabs at USBC Team USA Trials

Heading into the 2008 USBC Team USA Trials, which will be held at Sunset Station in Las Vegas from Jan. 15-18, Stickney is even more motivated to remain a member of Team USA. With a recent rule change allowing professional bowlers to compete in international events, 13 of the best players in the country were selected to lay the groundwork for 2008 Team USA.

Selection criteria announced for Team USA 2008

TeamUSALogo_small.jpg Many of the country's top professional bowlers will be available to compete for the United States as the selection procedures for Team USA 2008 were announced Friday by the United States Bowling Congress. Team USA 2008 will be comprised of a minimum of 12 women and 12 men. Committees will select an undetermined amount of men from the Denny's PBA Tour as well as an undetermined amount of women from a pool of players that includes Team USA members since 1998 and former Professional Women's Bowling Association/Ladies Professional Bowlers Tour members.

Barnes says Team USA is prepared for World Championships

All six bowlers who will represent Team USA in Monterrey, Mexico, at the World Championships beginning Sept. 1 competed in the U.S. Women's Open last week in Reno, Nev., and all finished among the top 25.

Love for bowling takes Schaub to Pan American Games

Team USA's two-handed lefty will make international debut

2007PAGCassidySchaub_small.jpg Bowling first took Cassidy Schaub to college. Now the sport is about to take him to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the Pan American Games to represent the United States. Schaub, 23, is among the growing contingent of international players who have found success with the two-handed delivery.  An estimated 5,500 athletes from 42 countries will compete in 28 sports at the XV Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, which run July 13-29.

Page to have company on left side at Pan American Games

Team USA veteran looking to continue his success in international competition

2007PAGTTRhinoPageCassidySchaub_small.jpg When the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, commence later this month, Team USA left-hander Rhino Page (l.) will have the company of a teammate on the left side for a change. Page, a four-year Team USA veteran, will be joined by fellow left-hander Cassidy Schaub (r.) of Polk, Ohio, who will make his international debut at the tournament. The XV Pan American Games are an Americas version of the Olympic Games which includes the Olympic Program sports and others that are not part of the Olympics.

The USBC Board of Directors consists of 25 members. The three other athlete board representatives are Diandra Asbaty, Sam Lantto and Sean Rash.
