Montana Teams claim 2008 QubicaAMF International Family Tournament titles
Each first place team received $5,000 scholarships

The state of Montana was well represented as Heather and 11-year-old daughter Keilei Kohlman of Billings, Mont., won the Parent-Youth division and Tana and 15-year-old Jake Lambert of Missoula, Mont., won the Parent-Teen competition at the
2008 QubicaAMF International Family Tournament held August 1-2 at Don Carter' All Star Lanes in Baton Rouge, La. Both first-place teams each won $5,000 scholarships to go towards their college education. Scholarships totaling $70,000 were distributed. All in all, 66 teams from 27 states, as well as Canada, competed in the Parent/Youth (33 teams) and Parent/Teen (33 teams) divisions at the IFT, celebrating its 33rd year.

BPA of Canada agrees to 100% membership in BPAA
Approximately 440 Canadian Bowling Centers to become BPAA Members

In an unprecedented move, the Bowling Proprietors' Association of Canada (BPAC) has entered into a 3-year commitment with the
Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA) to bring all of its approximately 440 bowling centers into BPAA membership effective August 1, 2008, according to BPAA and BPAC officials. In addition to Canadian bowling centers having 100 percent membership in BPAA, they will also have a seat on BPAA's Board of Directors during that same 3-year period.

McCarthy and Tatrow triumph at NPI $100,000 High School Open Singles Championships
Each winner awarded $15,000 scholarships
Erin McCarthy, Omaho, Neb. and
Kevin Tatrow, Bel Aire, Kan. survived a hectic two days to triumph over all other bowlers in their respective male and female divisions to become the champions of the third-annual North Pointe Insurance $100,000 High School Open Singles (Bowling) Championship (NPI $100,000 HSOSC) held at 5 Star Lanes in Sterling Heights, Mich., according the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA). McCarthy and Tatrow each won $15,000 in scholarship awards.

Come Rain or Shine…International Bowl Expo 2008 once again wows attendees in Orlando

Despite bowling centers and bowling industry suppliers battling economy woes, rising travel costs, as well as natural disasters in various parts of the country,
International Bowl Expo 2008 (IBE08) experienced another exciting turnout by bowling center owners, managers/staff and exhibiting companies. IBE08 continued to receive high marks from bowling industry leaders, suppliers, manufacturers and attendees as thousands gathered in Orlando, Fla. June 22 - 26 at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort Hotel along with the Orange County Convention Center.

The 2008 International Bowl Expo proves a slam dunk By Dick Evans

Despite the high cost of transportation,
International Bowl Expo drew close to 4,700, which is right at attendance figures coming out of the 2005 convention in Orlando. John Berglund, executive director of the Bowling Proprietors Association of America, said that exhibitors understand that the Orlando conventions cannot duplicate the Las Vegas numbers (a record 5,538 last year) "but many commented we draw different attendees in Orlando and that sales are quite good." But lets start at the beginning with meetings at the Rosen Shingle Creek convention center.

BPAA honors many during Convention in Orlando
International Bowl Expo is all about education and recognition and a coming together of nearly 5,000 proprietors, vendors, pro shop owners and journalists from throughout the world. Activities included the "Salute to Bowling" reception and silent auction benefiting the National Museum and Hall of Fame and bowling's outrageous block party "Universal City Walk" featuring Neal McCoy, Dread'1, Connis Vanterpool and the Commodores. The pouring rain hampered some but it was just a momentary slow down.

BWAA booth at Bowl Expo 2008

"The
Bowling Writers Association of America tried something new during the International Bowl Expo at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.," wrote Dick Evans, who was named president of the BWAA starting in August. The American journalist and columnist for Bowlingdigital.com was president for two years in the 1980s when bowling was riding high and the news world was different. The BWAA members wrote 27 short human-interest stories about proprietors, pro shop owners, exhibitors and coaches who stopped by the BWAA booth.

2008 USBC Coaches Summit and
International Bowling Pro Shop and Instructors Association Educational Conference began their two-day runs on Monday with a host of informative sessions at the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel in Orlando, Fla. Top bowling industry experts led seminars that offered strategies to help coaches, pro shop operators and proprietors work together to help bowlers, their own businesses and the sport of bowling. Global event attracts 5,000 plus attendees
International Bowl Expo is not just an event, it's a happening that has global implications and is a hot summer ticket. But make no mistake, International Bowl Expo doesn't just happen, it is a basketball-style full court press for 50 weeks by the entire staff at the Bowling Proprietors Association of America headquarters in Arlington, Texas. For this year's Bowl Expo in Orlando, June 21-26, the BPAA expects slightly more than 200 exhibitors who set up 900 exhibit booths in order to entertain and hopefully entice more than 5,000 attendees.

DHL becomes Official Shipping Partner for Strike Ten Entertainment
Logistics leader to handles shipping for BPAA's network of more than 3,400 bowling centers
DHL, the world's leading express delivery and logistics company, announced today that it has won a three-year, multimillion-dollar agreement with Strike Ten Entertainment, the marketing arm of the
Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA). Under the new agreement, DHL estimates it will ship an annual 20 million pounds of product and equipment to and from bowling centers, manufacturers and distributors.
