Vienna Open and Lahti Open switch places on 2008 European Bowling Tour

As the organizers of the 6th Vienna Open and the Lahti Open could not find enough hotels to accommodate the large number of players both tournaments expect, they had to switch their spots on the 2008 European Bowling Tour. The
6th Vienna Open will now be held from Sept. 30 through Oct. 5 as the 14th stop of the 2008 EBT. The Vienna Open is an EBT Major. The
Lahti Open will become the 15th stop of the 2008 EBT. The tournament will now take place from Oct. 12-19, 2008. The Lahti Open is an EBT Challenger.

ETBF announces first 'Premier' event for 2008 EBT season

The ETBF Presidium has announced that the
Ankara Open in Turkey will become the very first tournament with 'Premier' status on the European Bowling Tour. The 2nd Ankara Open, which will be held from September 13 to 24, 2008 at Rollhouse Bowling Center in Ankara, features a total prize fund of 100.000 Euro.

2009 European Bowling Tour Masters to be held in Aalborg

The
European Tenpin Bowling Federation has announced that the 2009 European Bowling Tour Masters will be held from May 25-27, 2009 at Lovvang Bowling Center in Aalborg, Denmark. The ETBF Presidium decided at a meeting in Barcelona, Spain, on October 11-12 to accept the offer from ETBF Vice President and Lovvang Bowling Center manager, Kim Thorsgaard Jensen, to host the event in conjunction with the 2009 Brunswick Aalborg International, which is scheduled for May 18-24.

Kegel will do the lane maintenance for two-thirds of the 2008 European Bowling Tour

The
European Tenpin Bowling Federation has announced that Florida-based
Kegel Company will do the lane maintenance for 12 out of 18 tournaments or two-thirds of the 2008 European Bowling Tour. Kegel is the official lane maintenance partner of the ETBF since the company has signed a three-year contract in 2006.

ETBF Presidium decides on the 2008 European Bowling Tour
First EBT event outside Europe scheduled for Qatar

The European Tenpin Bowling Federation has decided at its July 5 meeting in conjunction with the European Bowling Championships in Vienna, Austria on the
2008 European Bowling Tour schedule. The EBT 2008 will consist of 18 tournaments,
12 "Majors" and
6 "Challengers". For the first time in the history of the European Bowling Tour, which started in the year 2000, the Tour will have an event outside Europe.

Brunswick Euro Challenge moves from Greece to France

Europe's richest bowling tournament and one of the European Bowling Tour's "Majors", the 90.000 Euro
Brunswick Euro Challenge, will move from Thessaloniki, Greece to France in the year 2008. The 2008 BEC will be held from March 7-16, 2008 at Plaza Bowling in Saint-Maximin. The 28-lane Brunswick-equipped bowling center is located about 40 km north of Paris at the Route A1 and approx. 25 km from Roissy-Charles De Gaulle International Airport.

2007 Danish Masters has been cancelled

Gert Nielsen, organizer of the
Danish Masters Classic, the 14th stop on the 2007 European Bowling Tour, has announced the tournament scheduled for August 3-12 has been cancelled. As in 2005, when the tournament was off the EBT schedule, Nielsen cited a lack of participants as the main reason. After the
Viernheim Open and the
Kungsbacka International, this is the third event and the second "major" tournament that disappeared from the EBT schedule during the season.

Down to 19: 2007 European Bowling Tour loses another tournament
Kungsbacka International Tournament officially cancelled

As reported yesterday, the 100.000 Euro Viernheim Open in Germany was cancelled, which brought the number of tournaments on the 2007 European Bowling Tour to 20. After we have published the sad news, Kim Thorsgaard Jensen, ETBF Vice President and EBT Director, Denmark, had to admit that he had already received another cancellation some days ago.

3rd Gutperle Viernheim Open is cancelled
Bowling Gutperle Viernheim in Viernheim, Germany (Sep. 8-16, 2007)

Michael Lehman, tournament director of the
Gutperle Viernheim Open, has informed the European Bowling Tour director Kim Thorsgaard Jensen, that the richest tournament in Europe in regard to prize money is cancelled. Lehmann writes that the owner of the tournament and the host bowling center, the Gutperle Group, blames the German Tax Department for the decision.

2008 European Bowling Tour features Masters, Premier status and (perhaps) tournament(s) from outside the ETBF
European Bowling Tour 2008 Press Release 2 (Feb. 2, 2007)

Tournament organizers can now apply to become a part of the
2008 European Bowling Tour, which will feature some major changes. As earlier announced, an
EBT Masters will be added to the Tour's calendar, featuring the top 16 men and women from the 2007 EBT Tour. Tournaments with a minimum 100.000 Euro prize fund plus lots of other requirements can apply for
"Premier" status. The name of the Tour might not be 100 per cent correct any longer as "tournaments conducted in
countries outside the jurisdiction of ETBF might be adopted".

ETBF announces inaugural European Bowling Tour Masters for 2007 season

As a consequence of the cancellation of the 2007 World Ranking Masters in Qatar, the European Tenpin Bowling Federation (ETBF) has announced that the inaugural
European Bowling Tour Masters, originally planned for the 2008 season, will be conducted already after the 2007 season. The EBT Masters will have a minimum total prize fund of 40.000 Euro.

ETBF changes rules for penalty points and penalties
Kim Thorsgaard Jensen, European Tenpin Bowling Federation Vice President, head of the ETBF Tournament Committee and organizer of the Brunswick Aalborg Open, one of the European Bowling Tour 'major' tournaments, has announced that the ETBF has changed its rules for penalty points and penalties for the 2007 EBT season. In addition a rule regarding 'pre-booked spots' was introduced.

2007 European Bowling Tour offers over 1.2 million Euro
Total prize fund exceeds 1.2 million Euro

The eighth season of the
European Bowling Tour (EBT) will consist of 22 tournaments, 8 Challengers and 14 Majors - in 16 countries.
The total prize fund of the 2007 EBT will exceed 1.2 million Euro or approximately 1.5 million US dollar.

ETBF signs three-year contract with Kegel
