CONCABA Cambowl Junior sub-15 and sub-21 conclude with Masters finals

Three Mexican bowlers,
Ivan Narvaez (left, Boys sub-15),
Valeria Corpeño (right, Girls sub-15) and
Andrea Gonzalez (Girls sub-21), and
Alberto Lizano from Costa Rica (Boys sub-21) ended the CONCABA Cambowl Junior Championships with victory in the Masters competition. 65 players - 33 boys and 29 girls - from five countries, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico and Panama, participated in two categories, under 15 and under 21 years of age, in Singles, Doubles, Team and Masters.

Mexico sweeps Mixed Team event at CONCABA Cambowl Junior
Corpeño and Lopez win their third gold medal

The
Mexican mixed teams swept the titles in the under-15 and under-21 divisions at the CONCABA Cambowl Junior Championships in Panama. Manuel Bustamante, Claudia Duarte, Ivan Narvaez and
Valeria Corpeño led the under-15 division with 4606 six-game total. Corpeño, who won her third gold in as many events, posted the highest individual series of the division with 1298. Under 21 Singles and Mixed Doubles champion
Tannya Lopez followed in Corpeño's footsteps when she teamed with Ana Rosa Gamboa, Nestor Almodovar and Carlos Castellanos to claim the Mixed Team title and her third gold medal with 4857 pinfall total and an average of 202.38.

Mexico dominates Mixed Doubles event at CONCABA Cambowl Junior

Mexican bowlers earned five out of six medals in the under-15 and under-21 Mixed Doubles event at the CONCABA Cambowl Junior in Panama. Girls champion
Valeria Corpeño teamed with
Manuel Bustamante to win her second gold of the championships in the Sub 15 division with 2345 six-game total and an average of 195.42.
Tannya Lopez, who won the girls singles title in the sub 21 division, teamed with
Carlos Castellanos to claim her second title with 2616 pinfall total and an average of 218.00.

CONCABA Cambowl Junior starts with Singles event

65 players - 33 boys and 29 girls - from five countries participate in the
CONCABA Cambowl Junior championships in Panama City from Aug. 2-9, 2008.
Alberto Lizano (l.) from Costa Rica started the championships with victory in Singles in the Boys sub-21 division. Lizano had the tournament's first 300-game in the fourth game en route to win the title with 1335 six-game total and an average of 222.50.
Juan Pablo Castillo (r.) from Guatemala secured the title in the Boys sub-15 division with a 244 final game.

Jose Guandique to retire as CONCABA President
Jose Guandique from El Salvador is wearing many hats in the sport of bowling in America both nationally and internationally. He is the president of the Pan American Bowling Confederation (PABCON), the president of the El Salvador Bowling Federation and the president of CONCABA (Confederación de Centroamérica y México de Boliche or Central America and México Bowling Confederation). After the highly successful CAMBOWL Junior Under-15 and Under-21 championships in Guatemala last week, Jose Guandique has informed Bowlingdigital that this was his last championship as CONCABA president.

The Masters finals in the Under-21 division of the CONCABA CAMBOWL Juniori in Guatemala City were an all-Mexican affair. In the Boys' title match,
Humberto Vasquez (l.) topped Erick Beltran, two-games-to-one to earn the gold medal.
Gabriela Hernandez (r.) lost the first game against Hilda Gutierrez 212-166 but rebounded with back-to-back 192 games to claim the girl's title.

Estevan Hays and
Valeria Corpeño won the gold medals in the Boys and Gilrs Under-15 Masters in the CONCABA CAMBOWL Junior at Metro Bowl in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Both title matches in best-of-three format went the distance as Hays (r.) defeated compatriot Mario Herrera, two-games-to-one to win the boys title, and Corpeño (l.) topped No. 1 seed, All Events champion Pamela Monzon, Guatemala, with the same result in the girls final.

Clean sweep in Four-Player Team event for the Mexican youth bowlers at CAMBOWL Junior

The Mexican youth bowlers swept all four gold medals on the fourth day of competition in the CONCABA CAMBOWL Junior at Metro Bowl in Guatemala City, Guatemala. The Under-15 Boys led the field with 4419 six-game total and an average of 184.13, while their female counterparts had 4325 (180.21). The Under-21 Mexican girls out-bowled the boys when they cruised to victory with 4553 (189.71), while the boys won their title with 4466 (186.08).
