Milligan, Page golden again at Pan American Games
Both players win decisive games as Team USA sweeps gold medals
Team USA's
Tennelle Milligan (l.) and
Rhino Page (r.) each won singles gold medals as the bowling competition at the Pan American Games came to a close Thursday at Barra Bowling Center. Milligan defeated Venezuela's Alicia Marcano, 2-1, in the best-of-three, gold medal match, while Page got past Mexico's Daniel Falconi, 2-1, for the men's championship. Aumi Guerra, Dominican Republic, and Lucas Legnani, Argentina, took the bronze medals.

Team USA advances four to Singles match play at Pan Am Games

One day after winning two doubles gold medals in convincing fashion, all four Team USA players are in the running to close the
Pan American Games bowling competition with a second medal. Men's doubles gold medalists Rhino Page of Topeka, Kan., and Cassidy Schaub of Polk, Ohio, both advanced to singles match play by finishing in the top 16 after eight qualifying games Wednesday at Barra Bowling Center. The same was true for women's doubles gold medalists Tennelle Milligan of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Diandra Asbaty of Chicago.

Powered by strong first games from both the men and the women, Team USA ran away with a pair of doubles gold medals Tuesday at the Pan American Games. L-R
Diandra Asbaty of Chicago and
Tennelle Milligan of Costa Mesa, Calif., finished with a 12-game total of 5,356 to win the women's event by 387 pins, while
Rhino Page of Topeka, Kan., and
Cassidy Schaub of Polk, Ohio, totaled 5,260 for a 158-pin victory at Barra Bowling Center.

The
XV Pan American Games are an Americas version of the Olympic Games which includes the Olympic Program sports and others that are not part of the Olympics. The Games will run July 13-29 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The bowling competition consisting of two disciplines - Singles and Doubles - will take place July 23-26 at Barra Bowling Center, a 20-lane facility located in the Barra Shopping Mall in Barra de Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro.

Less than 10 days to go to the Pan Am Games
Nomination of Andres Gomez causes big controversy

"With less than 10 days to go, we are starting to feel the chills that will accompany us during the
Pan Am Games starting next Sunday with the official practice," Karla Redig, assistant manager of bowling during the Games said. Howver, the nomination of Colombian Andres Gomez, who had earned an exemption for the 2005-06 PBA Tour season, has caused a big controversy in Rio de Janeiro. According rto Redig, "Gomez is considered by the organizing committee as illegible for the Games since he has participated in the PBA."

Milligan returns to Team USA action at Pan American Games
Former professional star competing in first international event in eight years

Eight years since her last international bowling competition,
Tennelle Milligan of Costa Mesa, Calif., is eagerly anticipating her Team USA "re-debut" next month at the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. "I can't wait for the butterflies to start churning inside me," said Milligan, who won a team gold medal at the 1999 Pan American Games in her only year on Team USA before turning professional. The XV Pan American Games, which run July 13-29, are an Americas version of the Olympic Games.

Page, Schaub, Asbaty, Milligan to represent the U.S. in the 2007 Pan American Games
Rhino Page, Cassidy Schaub, Diandra Asbaty and Tennelle Milligan won the men's and women's 2007 Pan Am Team Trials held in Milwaukee, Wis., Feb. 16-17, 2007. The trials featured four separate tournaments on four different lane oil patterns, the first three five-game blocks at Olympic Lanes and the final six-game series at the USBC testing facility.
