First PABCON Women Championships to be held in Chile
Happyland Bowling Center Santiago de Chile (Oct. 19-24, 2008)

The first
Pan American Bowling Confederation Women Championships will be held at Happyland Bowling Center in Santiago de Chile from October 19-24, 2008. Players from 16 PABCON member federations will compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in Singles, Doubles, Trios, Team, All Events and Masters in a five-day competition starting on Oct. 20 with the Singles event and ending on Oct. 24 with the Masters final. The lane maintenance will be made by
Kegel.

Eoff, O'Sullivan win doubles gold at Men's American Zone Championships

Team USA's
Derek Eoff (right) and
David O'Sullivan fired a blistering 2,644 on Tuesday to win the doubles gold medal at the 2007 Men's American Zone Championships in Guatemala. It is the highest doubles score at the event since 1989 and third highest in the event's history.
Ray Vervinck and
Joe Ciach, Canada, were 20 pins behind to earn the silver medal with 2,624. Bronze went to Mexicans

Team USA's Janawicz starts Men's American Zone Championships with victory in Singles

John Janawicz (l.) made the most of his Team USA debut Monday. The Winter Haven, Fla., resident shot 1,365 over six games (227.5 average) to win the gold medal in Singles at the 2007 Men's American Zone Championships at Metro Bowl in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
Enrique Gutierrez, Mexico, who shot 956 over his last four games, earned the silver medal with 1,357. Team USA's
Derek Eoff (r.) finished his six-game series with 234, 234 and 236 to take the bronze medal with 1,352.

Opening ceremonies kick off Men's American Zone Championships

Action at the
2007 Men's American Zone Championships is ready to start at Metro Bowl in Guatemala City, Guatemala, with participants competing in the six-game singles event Monday. The singles competition is being contested on the short oil pattern. Tournament festivities began Sunday with the official practice followed by the opening ceremonies, saluting the 18 participating countries.

David O'Sullivan got a taste of what it's like to compete for his country in the 2004 World Youth Championships in Guam. At that event, O'Sullivan held his own by coming home with two medals and gaining some invaluable experience. Now O'Sullivan, 23, is stepping up to bowl with the big boys as a member of the prestigious Team USA.

Canada will compete at American Zone Men's Championships
Canada's national men's team will compete in the American Zone Men's Championships which will take place at Guatemala City, Guatemala from May 28 through June 1, 2007. Fifteen countries in the Americas are expected to take part in the competition which includes singles, doubles, trios, team event and a match play masters event. Competition will take place at Metro Bowl.

First FIQ/WTBA American Zone Men's Championship will be held at Metro Bowl in Guatemala City, Guatemala from May 27 through June 3, 2007. 15 countries will compete with maximum six players Singles, Doubles, Trios, 5-Player Team, All Events and Masters. The "Extra Ordinary Conference" will take place on May 26th at 10 am in the host hotel of the championship, Clarion Suites, and it has only one subject on the agenda.

Diandra Asbaty defends Masters title; Women's final all-American affair

The Team USA women capped off an impressive finish to the American Zone Championships on Tuesday by capturing all three medals in the Masters finals.
Diandra Asbaty of the United States successfully defended her title when she defeated Jennifer Petrick, 378-370, in the women's Masters finals of the 14th American Zone Championship at Metrobowl in San José, Costa Rica. The stepladder final was an all-American affair as reigning World Youth Masters champion Petrick topped Lynda Barnes in the opening match, 244-238.

Daniel Falconi shoots big game to win men's Masters

Daniel Falconi of Mexico finished the men's Masters finals in the 14th American Zone Championship with 11 consecutive strikes to defeat tournament leader Rhino Page, USA, 503-413, en route to win the coveted Masters title and his third gold medal of the championships. The Mexican has also won gold in Doubles and Trios. Page took the silver medal and Canadian Ty Rose, who lost to Falconi in the opening match 164-153, earned the bronze medal.

Lynda Barnes captures third gold medal in All Events

Lynda Barnes started the second day of the women's Team competition in the 14th American Zone Championship mere one pin ahead of team mate Diandra Asbaty with whom she has won the Doubles title four days ago. Three games later, the 37-year-old former PWBA champion and reigning U.S. National Amateur champion had won two more gold medals in Team and All Events. Asbaty took silver, while Singles champion Isabelle Rioux, Canada, got the bronze.

Andrew Cain wins third gold medal in All Events

Andrew Cain of the United States rolled a 623 three-game series on the second day of the Team event, the eighth day of competition, to secure the gold medal in All Events in the 14th American Zone Championship at Metrobowl in San José, Costa Rica. Arturo Hernandez from Venezuela secured the silver medal, while Mexican Benjamin Corona earned the bronze medal.

A day after setting setting the 3-game American Zone Championship record with 3250, the Team USA women
Lisa Noor, Jen Petrick, Shannon Pluhowsky, Lynda Barnes and Diandra Asbaty cruised to victory in the 5-player Team event with record 6277 pins, an average of 209,23. Mexico took the silver medal and Canada earned bronze, mere one pin ahead of Puerto Rico. Barnes won gold in All Events, Asbaty was second and Isabelle Rioux, Canada, third.
