Some things just seem destined to be. After a rollercoaster Tuesday of bowling, a sixth Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Senior Tour title was just in the cards for
Johnny Petraglia. The 61-year-old PBA Hall of Famer, who was on the ropes in nearly all of his matches Tuesday, defeated Hugh Miller, 226-213, to win the 2008 PBA Senior Jackson Open at Airport Lanes for his first since PBA Senior Tour title since 2001. Petraglia earned $8,000 for his victory while Miller (Seattle) took home $4,500.

Croucher earns No. 1 seed for match play in Jackson

The last time
Kevin Croucher (l.) put himself in a position to earn two byes in match play, he parlayed that advantage to his first career Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Senior Tour title. Croucher will look to repeat the feat Tuesday as he earned the top seed for match play and byes through the Rounds of 32 and 24 by leading the field with a 3,727 18-game pinfall in the 2008 PBA Senior Jackson Open at Airport Lanes. Morton sets the pace after Day One in PBA Senior Jackson Open

Rohn Morton averaged 236.50 over his eight games Sunday to take the lead after the first day of qualifying in the 2008 PBA Senior Jackson Open at Airport Lanes. Morton was the No. 3 ranked player in the 2007 PBA Senior Point Rankings but came up empty in his search for his second career PBA Senior Tour title. His first and only title came in the 2001 National/Senior Doubles event. Qualifying continues Monday with two squads bowling another eight-game block each. The top 32 will advance to single elimination match play on Tuesday. The final two bowlers will roll-off for the $8,000 top prize Tuesday evening.

Harvey and Kulick team to win 2008 Columbia 300 PBA Ladies and Legends

It took
Robert Harvey just two weeks to win his first Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Senior Tour title, but it certainly didn’t come easy. Harvey converted one of the biggest spares of his life in the 10th frame Monday to seal the 233-225 victory for he and his partner
Kelly Kulick in the 2008 Columbia 300 Ladies and Legends presented by MGD 64 at The Cherry Bowl. Kulick and Harvey will split $15,000 for their victory while April Ellis and Dale Eagle share $8,000 for second place.

Liz Johnson led their respective divisions in the 2008 Columbia 300 PBA Ladies and Legends presented by MGD 64 and will team up Tuesday for the round robin match play portion of the event.

Roger Kossert had so much success bowling in last year's Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Ladies and Legends together, they're trying their best to team up again. The defending champions (pictured after their victory in 2007) led their respective divisions in qualifying Saturday and look primed to team up for a shot at defending their title in the Columbia 300 PBA Ladies and Legends presented by MGD 64 at The Cherry Bowl. The Ladies and Legends features the top female bowlers and the top male bowlers 50 and older.

Sharp wins PBA Senior Tour opener in Dayton

A summer ago,
Keith Sharp (right) came up just short in his quest to win his first Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Senior Tour title the same week he lost his father. This time, dealing with his mother's recent illness, Sharp was able to come through with a victory, defeating Sam Zurich in the title match of the 2008 PBA Senior Dayton Classic at Capri Bowling Lanes in the first event of the season. In an exciting finish which saw both bowlers finish with a 210 in the title match, Sharp won a one-ball roll-off, 10-8, for his first victory.

Maccarone targets back-to-back titles in PBA Senior Dayton Classic

Sam Maccarone looks forward to the prospects of not only winning his second Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Senior Tour title on Tuesday, but also the possibility of putting his daughter through college. The defending champion Maccarone averaged 226.13 on Monday to lead qualifying with a 3,637 16-game pinfall and earn the top seed for match play in the 2008 PBA Senior Dayton Classic at Capri Bowling Lanes. By finishing in the top eight, Maccarone earned a bye through the first two rounds of match play and will need to only win three matches to reach the title match where a special

Traber takes Day One lead in 2008 PBA Senior Tour opener

Dale Traber warmed up for the 2008 Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Senior Tour by bowling in – and winning – a PBA Regional Tour event in Missouri last weekend. After winning his 37th career PBA Regional Tour on his favorite oil pattern, Traber got off to a hot start in search of his first career PBA Senior Tour title on that same pattern Sunday, taking the lead after day one of the PBA Senior Dayton Classic at Capri Bowling Lanes.

PBA announces 2008 PBA Senior Tour Schedule
The
Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) has announced the schedule for the 2008 PBA Senior Tour. The 2008 PBA Senior Tour is currently slated to have nine events, which includes six standard events, two Major events and the return of the PBA Ladies and Legends. Both Major events will once again take place on the West Coast, with Golden Pin Lanes in Tucson, Ariz., hosting the
USBC Senior Masters, June 8-13, while the
PBA Senior U.S. Open will once again return to the Suncoast Bowling Center in Las Vegas, June 15-20.

Baker wins record third consecutive PBA Senior Player of the Year Award

2007 PBA Senior Tour season, voted on by PBA membership and national media.
Tom Baker was named the PBA Senior Player of the Year while
Sam Zurich (r,) was named PBA Senior Rookie of the Year. Baker (l.) was named PBA Senior Player of the Year for a record third consecutive season.

Baker practically seals his third consecutive PBA Senior Player of the Year award with victory against Ozio in season showdown

It was only fitting the 2007 PBA Senior Tour season came down to a match-up between PBA Hall of Famers
Tom Baker (l.) and
David Ozio (r.). After months of taking turns as the front-runner for the award, it was Baker who once again came out on top, possibly securing a record third consecutive PBA Senior Player of the Year award with a 256-213 win over Ozio in a match that was much closer than the final score indicated.

Croucher wins his first PBA Senior title in a roll-off

It took two extra frames, but
Kevin Croucher (l.) finally came away with his first career PBA Senior Tour title. Croucher won a sudden death roll-off, 20-18, over Gary Smith after the two tied at 227 through 10 frames Tuesday to win the 2007 PBA Senior Decatur Open at Spare Time Lanes. Smith (r.) came into the match on fire, averaging 279.67 in his previous three games, but he cooled off enough for Croucher to pull even with him with three clutch strikes in the 10th frame.

Sylvia denies LeClair's bid for his first career PBA Senior Tour title

Don Sylvia (left) waited a long time for his second PBA Senior Tour title, but it was well worth the wait. Sylvia captured his first title since his rookie season in 2003, defeating Roger LeClair, 226-211, in the title match of the 2007 PBA Senior Lake County Open Thursday at Olympia Lanes. The win was particularly painful for LeClair (r.), who again came up just short in his quest for his first career PBA Senior Tour title.

Patchen wins his first PBA Senior title in Iowa
Thunderbowl, Council Bluffs, IA (July 30-August 2, 2007)
Dave Patchen used a little karmic retribution Thursday to take home his first career PBA Senior Tour title. After throwing a perfect shot in the ninth frame and leaving a stone 9-pin when a strike would have given him the lead, Patchen watched as Henry Gonzalez left a 2-10 split and opened in the 10th frame needing only a mark to win, giving Patchen a 202-196 win in the title match of the 2007 PBA Senior Council Bluffs Open at Thunderbowl. The 53-year-old was moved to tears by winning his first title, which didn't come easy on Thursday.
