Diandra Asbaty captured the one major international individual title that eluded her Friday by winning the women's 42nd QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in Caracas. Her 2-0 victory over England's
Lisa John in the championship match made it three World Cup victories in a row for U.S. women.
Mai Ginge Jensen, Denmark, finished third.

Diandra Asbaty of the United States completed the 40 games of qualifying at Centro Nacional de Bowling Mampote in Caracas in first place in the women's divisions. In the opening match of the best-of-three games finals on Friday at 10 a.m., Mai Ginge Jensen from Denmark takes on Lisa John from England.

Osku Palermaa showed he is human after all, while Ryan Lalisang touched immortality Thursday at the 42nd QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in Caracas. "I can't be 100 percent all the time," Palermaa acknowledged afterward. "I admit I was a little tired out there, because our squad finished so late last night. I didn't get a lot of sleep. But there was no letdown after I shot the second 300 game last night. There is still time to make lots more of those."

Palermaa dominates men's World Cup qualifying, rolls his second 300 game
Osku Palermaa (l.) dominated the 24-game preliminaries in the 42nd QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup. The Finn became the second player in the World Cup hsitory with two 300 games. Palermaa felled 6057 pins, an average of 252.38 over 24 games.
Reydnier Chavez (r.) from Venezuela closed out the qualifying with 289 and 279 to hit the cutoff number for 24th place with 5105 (212.71).

Lisa John (l.) of England burst into the women's lead after 24 games at the 42nd QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup in Caracas. John moved from third place at the end of Tuesday's action to first on the strength of a 1,701 block Wednesday. She has 5,296 pins and a 220.67 average.
Clara Juliana Guerrero (r.), Colombia posted Wednesday's best eight-game set with a 1788 total, a 223.50 average.

Women’s Masters champion, is the ladies’ leader after 16 games at the QubicaAMF Bowling World Cup. Johnsson moved up four places in the standings on the strength of a 1,827 series Tuesday night. She is averaging 230.31 with 3,685 pins, more than four pins per game better than Mai Ginge Jensen of Denmark. Jensen, who led after eight games, is in second with 3,620 pins and a 226.25 average.
