Sascha Obst ended the 19th European Youth Championships at World Cup Hallen in Roedovre, Denmark with a 2-1 victory over
James Gruffman, Sweden, en route to claim the Boys Masters title. In an all-Swedish semi-final match, Gruffman defeated
Patrick Bohm, 2-0. Obst went the distance to eliminate
David Jones, England, 2-1.

Daniëlle van der Meer defeated five opponents en route to win the Girls Masters crown in the 19th European Youth Championships in Roedovre, Denmark. In the title match in best-of-three games format, van der Meer topped
Melanie Birlinger of Germany 2-1. Belgium's
Katrien Goossens received the bronze medal, while
Evgeniya Smirnova of Russia finished fourth.

Pontus Halvarsson wins his fourth gold medal in Boys All Events

Pontus Halvarsson won his fourth gold medal at the 19th European Youth Championships in Denmark when he led the 137 boys from 24 countries in All Events. Halvarsson rolled games of 202, 280 and 203 on the final day of the team event to overtake
Svein Åke Ek, Norway, by two pins with 3710 18-game total and an average of 206,11. Ek earned the silver medal and
Mykhaylo Kalika, Ukraine, took bronze.

Swedish boys win third gold medal in Five-Player Team event
World Cup Hallen in Roedovre, Denmark (April 8-17, 2006)
James Gruffman, Patrik Bohm, Johan Sörensen, Marcus Berndt and Pontus Halvarsson won the third gold medal for Sweden in as many events when they captured the title in the boys five-player team event at the 19th European Youth Championships at World Cup Hallen in Roedovre, Denmark. Overnight leader Finland slipped one spot to second with host country Denmark in third place.

Gold for Stephanie Huijden in Girls All Events
World Cup Hallen in Roedovre, Denmark (April 8-17, 2006)
Stephanie Huijden felled 1180 pins in the Team event to help grab the Dutch girls the title and to earn the gold medal in All Events with 3659 18-game total and an average of 203,28. Doubles champion
Hayley White, England, beat out Trios champion
Marie Gauton, France, for the silver medal by one pin, 3619 to 3618. The top 24 players in All Events (18 games) advance to the Masters finals on Saturday and Sunday.

Dutch girls cruise to victory in Five-Player Team event

Daniëlle van der Meer, Daniëlle Pelle, Kelly Plummen, Lisanne Breeschoten and Stephanie Huiden captured the first gold medal fort he Netherlands in the girls Five-Player Team event at the 19th European Youth Championships in Denmark. The Dutch girls felled 5683 over six games, an average of 189,43 to lead second-placed Germany (5665) by 18 pins. The bronze medal went to Sweden with 5558 pinfall total.

James Gruffman to win the second gold medal for Sweden in the boys Trios event at the 19th European Youth Championships Denmark. Germany's Sascha Obst, Florian Hinterwimmer and Michael Koch came up strong but fell four pins short to earn the silver medal. Finland's Juhani Tonteri, Mikko Masalin and Jani Heikkinen took bronze.

The Swedes felled 2433 over six games, an average of 202,75, en route to claim the title in the Boys Doubles event. Denamrk's Frederik Øhrgaard and Anders Vorborg won silver, while Dutch Tom van der Vliet and Mark Jacobs took bronze.

Hayley White and
Sarah Overall won the first gold medal in Girls Doubles in the 19th European Youth Championships at World Cup Hallen in Roedovre, Denmark with 2440 six-game total and an average of 203,33. The only other team with a 200-plus average, Anne Gales and Sofie Lomholdt of Denmark earned the silver medal with 2421. The bronze medal went to Emelie Alm and Caroline Jonsson of Sweden with 2393.

The Danish Bowling Federation will host the
19th European Youth Championships in Roedovre near Copenhagen April 7-17, 2006. 228 players (94 girls and 134 boys) from 24 ETBF member federations Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Island, Israel, Italy, Lativa, Netherlands, Norway, Polen, Russia, Scotland, South Africa, Sweden, Ukraine, Ungarn and Wales are expected to compete at 26-laner World Cup Hallen.
