Bowling should learn from other Sports
At the 2006 Men's World Championship in Busan, Korea, 247 players from 44 countries targeted for just six gold, silver and bronze medals. Over the years the World Championships in other sports have progressed from the original few events and medals mostly in one discipline to many events with lots of medals in different disciplines in the current World Championships. Bowling should learn from other sports.

Men's World Championship - Medals and Records

The inaugural
Men's World Championship is over. The event, which was held at the Asiad Bowling Center in Busan, Korea, from August 27 through September 9 draw
247 players from 44 countries. 38 countries have sent a full team (six players), while Bulgaria (4), Thailand (4), Gibraltar (2), Indonesia (2) and Slovakia (2) could only compete in all disciplines. Israel (5) competed in all disciplines but had only one trio and two doubles.

Perfect ending at Men's World Championships, Rivera shoots 300 to win Masters title
Asiad Bowling Center in Busan, Korea (Aug. 27 - Sept. 9, 2006)
Biboy Rivera of the Philippines fired the first 300-game in a Masters final at a World Championship to win the title match against
Achim Grabowski, Germany, in the decisive fifth game,
300-212. This was the third perfecto of the championships and the 13th of a man in the history of the World Championships.
Jason Belmonte, Australia and Team USA's
Rhino Page both receive bronze.

Ong rules Asiad Bowling Center, wins gold in Singles and All Events
Ong, Page and Nam-Yi take the same medals in Singles and All Events

3-time Asian Games champion
Remy Ong from Singapore fired a 1524 six-game series, an average of 254,00, in the fourth and final squad today to win the gold medals in Singles and All Events in the Men's World Championship in Busan, Korea. Team USA's
Rhino Page earned the silver medals in both events, while both bronze medals went to
Jo Nam-Yi from Korea,

2005 U.S. National Amateur Champion
Rhino Page has his sights set on winning a medal in All Events in the 2006 Men's World Championship after his record-performance in Singles on Wednesday. Seven players of the top ten and another two players of the top 16 after three events (Doubles, Trios and Team) will take to the lanes at the Asiad Bowling Center in Busan, Korea, Thursday on the challenging short-oil pattern.

Malaysia earned the silver medal, while
Finland topped defending champion Sweden for bronze by 14 pins.

Gold and Silver for Korea in Trios event at the Men's World Championship

In one of the most exciting competitions in the history of the World Championships, the host country of
Korea claimed both the gold and silver medals in the Trios event.
Kim Tae-Won, Choi Jong-In and Joung Seoung-Joo, who posted a 4073 six-game total (226,28 average) in the afternoon squad, had secured the gold medal well before the final ball was rolled.

Larsen/Andersson start Men's World Championship with victory in Doubles

Martin Larsen and
Robert Andersson combined for a 2831 six-game series to start the 2006 Men's World Championship in Busan, Korea, with victory in Doubles. Trailing the Swedes by mere 23 pins to finish second were England's Mike Quarry and Daniel Stride. Jarrod Lean and Jason Belmonte, Australia, beat out their team mates Jason Walsh and Brandon Qualischefski for bronze by 17 pins.

2006 Men's World Championship declared Open in colorful Opening Ceremony

The inaugural
Men's World Championship was declared open this afternoon in Busan, Korea. The colorful opening ceremony was held at the Asiad Bowling Center (pictured left), a 36-laner located in the Busan Sports Complex. The competition will start on Thursday morning, August 31, at 9 am with the Doubles event.

Lean, mean Daniel ready for the challenges

After eight months of physical training at Bukit Jalil gymnasium, national bowler
Daniel Lim is trim and fit for the challenges in the men's World Championships. And the 30-year-old is all fired up to a medal drought in his third appearance in the championships, which begin on Thursday in Busan with the doubles event.

Canada will be one of 45 countries expected to compete at the Men's World Championships to be held in Busan, South Korea, August 30-September 8, 2006. The championship to be held at the Asiad Bowling Centre, will be the first time the men's event has been held separate from the women.

Team USA's sights set on team gold heading into 2006 Men's World Championships

In recent years, gold medals have been a rare find for the Team USA men at the
World Tenpin Bowling Association World Championships. In fact, it's been a quarter of a century since Team USA has won gold in the five-player team event. Team USA head coach Jeri Edwards is optimistic the team can find success in South Korea, especially with a good mix of veterans and newcomers.
