Helen Johnsson wins high-scoring Masters final against Britt Bröndsted in the Women's European Championships

29-year-old
Helen Johnsson (right) from Sweden won the European Masters final against Britt Bröndsted (left), Denmark, two-games-to-one, despite taking a dive in the ninth frame of the final frame. Choosing to play on short oil first, Johnsson defeated the Europe's No. 1, 268-214 in the first game, leaving only a single pin the 5th frame and in the 11th.

Gold instead of nothing; Netherlands wins the title in Team event from 4th place
Dream-Bowl in Böblingen, Germany (Aug. 24 - Sept. 3, 2006)

In the 44-year history of the European Championships every team that has ended up with the championship record became the European champion. Not this time as the Swedish ladies, who shot a record 6371 six-game total on short and long oil condition, a 212,37 average, were eliminated in a newly contested semifinal by the Dutch team and had to settle for the bronze medal.

Fiona Banks wins her second gold medal at the Women's European Championships in All Events
Dream-Bowl in Böblingen, Germany (Aug. 24 - Sept. 3, 2006)

England's
Fiona Banks (pictured) cruised to victory in All Events to capture her second gold medal at the Women's European Championships after winning in the Trios event. Banks posted a new championship record of 5443, an average of 226,79 for 24 games.
Mai Ginge Jensen, Denmark, was second, with
Patricia Schwarz, Germany, third. The top 24 advanced to the Masters finals.

England cruises to victory in trios event at Women's European Championships

Katie Jowsey from England sensationally won the gold medal in the Trios event in the Women's European Championships at Dream-Bowl in Böblingen, Germany. Leading after both three-game blocks on short and long oil, the trio defeated Denmark's Britt Bröndsted, Mai Ginge Jensen and Kamilla Kjeldsen in the championship match, 611-568.

Denmark starts Women's European Championships with Gold and Silver in Doubles event

The Doubles final at the Women's European Championships was an all-Danish affair with sisters
Mai and Anja Ginge Jensen defeating Britt Bröndsted and Kamilla Kjeldsen, 421-407, to win the gold medal. Semi-final losers Reija Lunden and Piritta Kantola, Finland, as well as Katie Jowsey and Fiona Banks, England, shared the bronze medal.
