Guerra, Legnani win 2007-08 PABCON Ranking Final

Aumi Guerra, Dominican Republic and
Lucas Legnani, Argentina won the women's and men's 2007-08 PABCON Ranking Final at Galaxy Bowling in San Salvador, El Salvador. Guerra led the 23 women with 4897 pinfall total and an average of 204.04 for 24 games on three different lane condation. Legnani played in his own league and cruised to victory with 5282 (220.08). The top 8 men and women qualified for the 2008 World Ranking Masters to be held from April 30 through May 6, 2008 at Senayan Bowling Sportainment Center in Jakarta, Indonesia.

2007 American Zone Ranking Final to be held in San Salvador

The National Bowling Federation of El Salvador (FESABOL) will host the
Pan-American Bowling Confederation (PABCON) "American Zone Ranking Final" from February 24-28, 2008 at Galaxa Bowling in San Salvador. The top 12 men and the 12 women from each of the five PABCON ranking regions (North, Central, Caribbean, South 1 and 2) will compete for one of the eight spots for the for the 2008 World Ranking Masters in Jakarta, Indonesia.

PABCON announces latest standings in 2007 Rankings

Pan American Bowling Confederation President
José Guandique (pictured left) from El Salvador has released the latest standings in the PABCON rankings. Since the ranking season 2006, the PABCON, formerly the WTBA American Zone, is divided geographically into five regions. The top 12 men and the top 12 women in each of the five regions at the end of the season will qualify for the "American Zone Ranking Final" scheduled for February 243 through 28, 2008.

Arturo Hernandez from Venezuela and
Rocio Restrepo from Colombia won the men's and women's division of the 2006 American Zone Ranking Finals in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The tournament determined the 8 women and 8 men who will be eligible to represent the American Zone in the World Ranking Masters in Doha, Qatar, in April.

Arturo Hernandez from Venezuela rolled the second-highest 1841-series on long oil to maintain his lead in the men's division with 3589 and an average of 224.31 over 16 games. On the women's side, Colombia's
Rocio Restrepo posted the highest block on long oil with 1768 to leap two spots into the lead with 3393, and an average of 212.06. Her teammate, World Ranking Masters champion Sara Vargas, remained in second with 3287.

Alicia Marcano, both from Venezuela, set the pace in the American Zone Ranking Finals, currently underway at Punta Cana Lanes in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, after the first eight-game block on short oil. 61 competitors determine the American Zone representatives for the World Ranking Masters in a 3-day competition.

The American Zone Ranking Finals will start today at Punta Cana Lanes in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. 57 competitors - 29 women and 28 men - will determine the 8 women and 8 men who will represent the American Zone in the World Ranking Masters in Doha, Qatar (April 30 - May 6). All players will bowl three blocks of eight games on short, long and short/long oil from Feb. 2 through 4.

The American Zone was divided in five regions for the 2006 rankings, North, Central, Caribbean and South 1 and 2. The top 12 men and the top 12 women in each of the five regions qualified for the "
American Zone Final Ranking" to be held in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, from Jan. 31st to Feb. 4th.

General Coordinator of the WTBA American Zone 2006 Rankings has informed us that the XXX Copa Carnaval de Barranquilla, Colombia, January 25-28, 2006, was approved as open ranking tournament for the South Region 1. The tournament attracted 51 male and 12 female bowlers of whom 6 male and 2 female (all from Colombia) subscribed for the WTBA South Region 1 Ranking 2006.

José Antonio Guandique E. (pictured) and six members of the presidium have approved new General Rules for the American Zone Ranking 2006. The American Zone, which was divided in three ranking zones last year, will be divided in five regions for the 2006 rankings: Northern Region, Central American Region, Caribbean Region, Southern Region 1 and 2.

Defending champion Clara Guerrero locks up spot for 2006 World Ranking Masters

Defending World Ranking Masters champion
Clara Guerrero took the lead in the American Zone Ranking Final in Panama after the first of three 8-game blocks and never looked back. The Colombian finished atop the women's leaderboard with 4989 24-game total and an average of 207,88 after three blocks on short, long and short/long oil condition to lock up her spot for the 2006 World Ranking Masters in Kuwait.

Daniel Falconi cruises to victory in American Zone Ranking Final
Panama City, Panama - March 1-4, 2006
Daniel Falconi of Mexico rolled the third-highest series on the final day of qualifying to cruise to victory in the men's division of the American Zone Ranking Final at El Dorado Bowling Center in Panama City, Panama. Falconi, who took the lead after the second block, had a 1630 eight-game total on dual lane condition (one lane short oil, one lane long oil) to finish the three-day competition with 5027 pinfall total and an average of 209,46.

Costa and Vargas emerge as American Rankings South Region champions

Walter Costa of Brazil and Colombia's
Sara Vargas (pictured) claimed the men's and women's titles in the 2005 American Rankings South Region. Costa led the men's rankings with 300 points and was one of ten Brazilians among the top 16. Vargas accumulated 313 points to lead Brazilians Jacque Costa (300) and Marizete Scheer (283), who finished in second and third, respectively.
