Sara Vargas (pictured) of Colombia followed in the footsteps of defending champion Clara Juliana Guerrero as she defeated Putty Armein, Indonesia, two-games-to-one, en route to win the 2006 women's World Ranking Masters in Kuwait. The host pick, Khalid Al Dubyan, the No. 23 in the 2005 Asian Zone rankings, used the home advantage en route to triumph in the men's division over Finn Pasi Uotila in the lowest scoring final in the WRM history.

Men's and women's No. 1 seeds, Wu Siu Hong from Hong Kong and Germany's Tanya Petty, both were sidelined by the No. 8 seeded players in the first match play round of the 2006 World Ranking Masters finals. Siu Hong went out in two games against local favorite Khalid Al Dubyan, 2-0, in the best-of-three games format. Petty lost the deciding third game against Putty Armein (pictured), Indonesia 234-183.

Wu Siu Hong from Hong Kong and Germany's Tanya Petty claimed the No. 1 seed for the men's and women's match play finals in the 2006 World Ranking Masters in Kuwait. Siu Hong felled 5410 pins and averaged 225,42 for 24 games. Petty led the women's field with 5184 24-game total, an average of 216 overall.

Robert Andersson and Shalin Zulkifli won the $1,000 bonus on the long oil pattern on the second day of qualifying in the 2006 World Ranking Masters. The Swede averaged 235 for eight games and felled 1880 pins to jump from 22nd place to 10th. Zulkifli leapfrogged from 13th to third place behind a 1796 series.

Kuwait Open champion Zulmazran Zulkifli of Malysia took the lead in the men's division at the 2006 World Ranking Masters after eight games on short oil at Cosmo Bowling in Kuwait City. World Doubles champion Tanya Petty of Germany set the pace in the women's division.
