PBA signs game partnership with Concrete Software

Video game to be unveiled featuring PBA Tour stars in June

The PBA Team Shootout Hosted by Six Flags Great America takes place June 5-8 at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Ill.

Denny's PBA Tour Trials competition to air live on Xtra Frame

Subscribers can catch final two days of competition live

PBA1958Logo_small.jpg The Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) announced today the final two days of competition in the upcoming Denny's PBA Tour Trials will be streamed live on Xtra Frame, the league's online video service. The Denny's PBA Tour Trials, which takes place May 27-June 1 at Stardust Bowl II in Merrillville, Ind., will mark the first time fans will have the opportunity to see Denny's PBA Tour action live on Xtra Frame, which debuted in December 2007.

PBA to grandfather Masters, BPAA All-Star Titles

All USBC Masters, BPAA All-Stars since 1959 to count as Denny's PBA Tour titles

PBA1958Logo_small.jpg In light of the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Tour's upcoming 50th Anniversary season, the PBA has announced all United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Masters events and BPAA All-Stars since 1959 will count as official PBA Tour titles. Prior to this decision, the PBA only counted USBC Masters titles as official PBA Tour titles since 1998 as the event has only been part of the Denny's PBA Tour TV schedule since that year. Now, all PBA members who have won a USBC Masters title since 1959 – the first year of the PBA Tour – will be credited with a PBA Tour title and a Major title.

PBA announces plans for 50th Anniversary Celebration

2008-09 season is the PBA Tour's 50th

PBA50thAnniversaryLogo_small.jpg The Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) announced today plans for a 50th Anniversary celebration as the upcoming 2008-09 Denny's PBA Tour will mark the 50th season in the organization's history. To kick off the celebration, the PBA will announce the "50 Greatest Players in PBA History." A committee will select 50 bowlers from an original list of 100 and will then rank them from 1-50. Announcements will be made throughout the summer detailing plans for the upcoming celebration.

PBA reveals 2007-08 season-ending awards

Chris Barnes took home Chris Schenkel PBA Player of the Year honors, Rhino Page was voted Harry Golden PBA Rookie of the Year and Riga Kalfas was named the Steve Nagy Sportsmanship Award recipient. Barnes (l.) won the PBA Player of the Year Award for the first time in his 10-year career. Page (r.) ran away with the PBA Rookie of the Year Award after putting together perhaps the greatest rookie season in PBA history.

PBA Regional Players Championship on the horizon

DPBATourLogo118.jpg With the Regional Players Invitational (RPI) points list meaning more than ever this season, bowlers are encouraged to enter the Regional Players Championship (RPC) to earn valuable points toward a berth in the RPI and an exemption for the 2009-10 Denny's PBA Tour season. The 2008 RPC takes place May 23-26 at Stardust Bowl II in Merrillville, Ind., with a $10,000 top prize and a berth in the 2008-09 PBA Tournament of Champions on the line. The RPC will once again precede the Denny's PBA Tour Trials, which takes place May 7-June 1.

PBA increases households, viewers on ESPN in 2007-08

Overall rating equal to 2006-07 rating

PBA1958Logo_small.jpg Denny's Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Tour telecasts on ESPN during the 2007-08 season saw a five percent increase in average household audience and a four percent increase in total viewers from the 2006-07 season. The 21 telecasts on ESPN averaged 745,000 households, up from 710,000 in 2006-07 – a five percent increase – and was a seven percent increase over the 698,000 average household audience in 2005-06.

Barnes captures the 2007-2008 Denny's PBA Player of the Year award

2007PBAChrisBarnes_small.jpg Columbia 300 staff player, Chris Barnes, has found himself in the ultimate winner's circle this season, capturing the 2007-2008 Denny's PBA Player of the Year award. Barnes edged out six-time PBA Player of the Year Walter Ray Williams Jr. by two points in the standings to win the award for the first time in his career. The 1998 Rookie of the Year holds the record as the fastest bowler to cross the $1 million mark in earnings in the shortest number of events (220) and in just four years.  Barnes was officially named the Player of the Year during Sunday's telecast at the 65th Denny's U.S. Open.

Tom Clark named PBA Vice President and COO

Former USBC Vice President of Marketing and Communications to begin May 15

USBCTomClark_small.jpg The Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) announced today Tom Clark, formerly the Vice President of Marketing and Communications for the United States Bowling Congress (USBC), has accepted the position of Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the PBA. Clark, who joined the USBC staff in 2005, will begin his new position with the PBA on May 15, following the USBC National Convention. He will primarily oversee television production, marketing and public relations for the Denny's PBA Tour.

10-time titlist looks to clinch first PBA Player of the Year Award this week

2007PBAChrisBarnes_small.jpg PBA Tour star Chris Barnes will participate in a live national online chat this Wednesday, March 26 at 11 a.m. ET on USAToday.com to promote this week's 65th Denny's U.S. Open which will determine the 2007-08 PBA Player of the Year award. Barnes, a 10-time titlist who has won twice this season, leads the new PBA Player of the Year point rankings with just one event remaining, which happens to be one of the most prestigious bowling events in the world, the 65th Denny's U.S. Open. The season's fourth Major will award the winner $100,000 and a three-season exemption in addition to 24 Player of the Year points.

A total of seven exemptions will be up for grabs in the 2008 Denny's PBA Tour Trials, May 27-June 1 at Stardust Bowl II in Merrillville, Ind. This marks the second consecutive season and the fourth time in five seasons the event has been held in the Merrillville, Ind., bowling center.

USBC, PBA to offer PBA Experience tournaments

Beginning in October 2008, proprietors who host a PBA Experience League or PBA tournament will have the opportunity to include a PBA Experience Tournament into their mix of offerings for their local bowlers. The PBA Experience, part of the USBC Sport Bowling program, currently exists in a league program for USBC Sport Bowling members. 2008 Motel 6 Roll to Riches details announced

Six PBA stars to compete for $150,000 top-prize

PBA1958Logo_small.jpg The Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) has announced the final details of the 2008 Motel 6 Roll to Riches which features a $150,000 winner-take-all top prize. The 2008 Motel 6 Roll to Riches marks the fourth consecutive season the special event has capped the Denny's PBA Tour season. This year the event moves to Colonial Lanes in Orlando, Fla. The event will be taped Tuesday, April 8 and will air on ESPN as two back-to-back one hour shows, Sunday April 13 from 1-2 p.m. EST and 2-3 p.m.

Mark Roth awarded Commissioner's Exemption

PBA Hall of Famer to compete in Go RVing Classic

2006GBT01MarkRoth.jpg Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Commissioner and CEO Fred Schreyer has announced he has awarded PBA Hall of Famer Mark Roth a Commissioner's Exemption to compete in the 2008 Go RVing Classic at Norwich Bowling and Entertainment Center in Norwich, Conn., March 5-9. Roth, who is tied for third all-time with 34 Denny's PBA Tour titles, was inducted into the PBA Hall of Fame in 1987. He was named PBA Player of the Year four times in his career.  Roth, who resides in Fulton, N.Y., was – and still is – one of the most popular stars in the game due to his unique style.

Chris Barnes makes a wish come true

PBA star converts "Flying Eagle" trick shot for four-year-old with muscular dystrophy

20080216BarnesEdwards_small.jpg Denny's Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Tour star Chris Barnes fulfilled the dream of a four-year-old boy Friday at Thunder-Alley in Omaha, Neb., meeting up with Hunter Edwards and converting the "Flying Eagle" trick shot for the young boy as part of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. After Barnes talked with Edwards and presented him with a framed autographed jersey, Barnes set up the shot. After missing the target pin on his first try, Barnes successfully completed the shot on his second try, much to the delight of Edwards and the entire crowd gathered around at Thunder-Alley.
