2007 European Rankings 

2007 European Ranking season is over

The 2007 European Bowling Tour consisted of 18 tournaments, 12 classified as a "Major" tournament and six as a "Challenger". Osku Palermaa, Finland and Kirsten Penny, England earned the men's and women's European Ranking titles for the first time in their careers.

With maximum 50 ranking points for the winner of the English Open rankings at stake Palermaa and Penny are out of reach for the three-time defending champions Paul Moor, England, and Britt Bröndsted, Denmark.

Palermaa vs. Moor, Penny vs. Brøndsted will battle it out for the 2007 men's and women's European ranking title

2007EBTLogo_small.jpg With just two events of the 2007 European Bowling Tour remaining, there are only two men and two women left in the race for the men's and women's European ranking crown. The men's title will be decided between current leader Osku Palermaa, Finland and 3-time defending champion Paul Moor, England. On the women's side, Moor's fellow countrywoman Kirsten Penny has a 58-point cushion over Britt Brøndsted, Denmark, who won the women's rankings in the past three years.

Ranking leaders Kirsten Penny, England, and Osku Palermaa, Finland, did not compete in Norway.

European All Events champion Osku Palermaa (l.), Finland, and multiple World and European champion Kirsten Penny (r.), England, held on to the lead with 617 and 518 ranking points, respectively.

Kirsten Penny (r.), England, and Osku Palermaa, Finland remained atop the women's and men's rankings with 502 and 547 points, respectively. However, 3-time defending champions Britt Bröndsted, Denmark, and Paul Moor (l.), England, narrowed the gap to 67 and 15 points, resp.

Osku Palermaa (l.), Finland, and Kirsten Penny (r.), England continued to lead. Malta Open champions Stuart Williams, England, and Ghislaine van der Tol, Netherlands, moved into 6th and 7th place, respectively.

Kirsten Penny, England, and Osku Palermaa, Finland, finished second and 15th in their respective ranking division to widen the lead to 79 and 27 points, resp. Paraske champion Gery Verbruggen jumped into 13th place while Martina Beckel, the highest positioned woman in Belgium maintained her third place.

Both players earned the maximum 100 ranking points for leading the rankings in an EBT major for the second time this season.

Kirsten Penny, who won the women's rankings in the Catalonia Open, the 4th of 19 stops (Viernheim and Kungsbacka have been cancelled) on the 2007 European Bowling Tour, overtook the lead in the women's rankings. Catalonia Open champion, Martin Larsen from Sweden, leaped to second place in the men's rankings.

Moor begins pulling away in Men's European Rankings

Paul_Moor_3849.jpg With just three out of 21 European Bowling Tour events in the books, three-time defending European ranking champion Paul Moor from England has won two titles and has earned 180 points and begins pulling away. Second-placed Osku Palermaa, who lost the title match against Moor in Luxembourg yesterday, is already 60 points behind. Martina Beckel, Germany, holds a slim six-point lead in the women's rankings.
