Sandbaekken ends 2007 Men's European Championships with victory in Masters

Mads Sandbaekken from Norway, the reigning World Youth Championships Masters champion, swept four-time European champion
Petteri Salonen, Finland, two-game-to-none to end the 2007 Men's European Championships at Plus Bowling in Vienna, Austria, with victory in the Masters competition. Sandbaekken, who turned 20 during the MEC last week, won the first game 230-226 and sealed the victory when she struck eight times in the first nine frames of game #2, 229-209. Salonen earned the silver medal while Mike Quarry, England and Dennis Eklund, Sweden shared the bronze.

Multiple World and European Champion Sweden triumphed in the five-player Team event in the 2007 Men's European Championships when they defeated Norway in the title match, 1049-971, at Plus Bowling in Vienna, Austria.

Sweden with 3266. Their Scandinavian rivals, defending team champion
Finland (pictured), led Squad #2 to move into third place with 3262. Fourth place belonged to the players from the host country of
Austria, who were five pins behind with 3257.

Petter Hansen from Norway rolled games of 1121, 1079 and 1149 in Squad 1 to overtake the lead in the 2007 Men's European Championships Team event after three games on short oil (35 ft.) with 3349 pinfall total and an average of 223.46. World Youth Masters champion Sandbaekken closed out his set with the third 300 game of the championships. Second place belonged to Sweden (3266), with Greece in third (3243) and Denmark in fourth place (3101).

Robert Andersson and Martin Larsen, the reigning World Champions in Doubles were targeting another Doubles title at the 2007 Men's European Championships in Vienna, Austria. However, local favorites
Thomas Tybl and
Thomas Gross had other plans as they defeated the Swedes, 495-446, in the title match to claim the first gold medal of the event. Sweden won the silver medal and Germany and Denmark shared the bronze medal.
