New bowling world record: More than half a million games played in a single day
548,721 games played across 808 centers as part of National Bowling Day Challenge
Strike Ten Entertainment, the marketing arm of the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA), has announced a new bowling world record of the most games played in a single day. For the first time ever, more than 800 bowling centers joined forces in a nationwide challenge to record the largest number of games bowled during a 24 hour period. On National Bowling Day (August 30, 2008),
808 centers participated in the challenge, recording
548,721 games played.

Montana Teams claim 2008 QubicaAMF International Family Tournament titles
Each first place team received $5,000 scholarships

The state of Montana was well represented as Heather and 11-year-old daughter Keilei Kohlman of Billings, Mont., won the Parent-Youth division and Tana and 15-year-old Jake Lambert of Missoula, Mont., won the Parent-Teen competition at the
2008 QubicaAMF International Family Tournament held August 1-2 at Don Carter' All Star Lanes in Baton Rouge, La. Both first-place teams each won $5,000 scholarships to go towards their college education. Scholarships totaling $70,000 were distributed. All in all, 66 teams from 27 states, as well as Canada, competed in the Parent/Youth (33 teams) and Parent/Teen (33 teams) divisions at the IFT, celebrating its 33rd year.

BPA of Canada agrees to 100% membership in BPAA
Approximately 440 Canadian Bowling Centers to become BPAA Members

In an unprecedented move, the Bowling Proprietors' Association of Canada (BPAC) has entered into a 3-year commitment with the
Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA) to bring all of its approximately 440 bowling centers into BPAA membership effective August 1, 2008, according to BPAA and BPAC officials. In addition to Canadian bowling centers having 100 percent membership in BPAA, they will also have a seat on BPAA's Board of Directors during that same 3-year period.

McCarthy and Tatrow triumph at NPI $100,000 High School Open Singles Championships
Each winner awarded $15,000 scholarships
Erin McCarthy, Omaho, Neb. and
Kevin Tatrow, Bel Aire, Kan. survived a hectic two days to triumph over all other bowlers in their respective male and female divisions to become the champions of the third-annual North Pointe Insurance $100,000 High School Open Singles (Bowling) Championship (NPI $100,000 HSOSC) held at 5 Star Lanes in Sterling Heights, Mich., according the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA). McCarthy and Tatrow each won $15,000 in scholarship awards.

DHL becomes Official Shipping Partner for Strike Ten Entertainment
Logistics leader to handles shipping for BPAA's network of more than 3,400 bowling centers
DHL, the world's leading express delivery and logistics company, announced today that it has won a three-year, multimillion-dollar agreement with Strike Ten Entertainment, the marketing arm of the
Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA). Under the new agreement, DHL estimates it will ship an annual 20 million pounds of product and equipment to and from bowling centers, manufacturers and distributors.

Unveiled in 2005, this prestigious award is presented to a proprietor in each state who has been nominated for outstanding contributions to the industry and sport of bowling.

Pennsylvanians hit the lanes to bowl for their candidate
Bowling Proprietors Association of Pennsylvania hosts statewide voting "Bowl-Off" across 130 centers

Inspired by Senator Hillary Clinton's April Fool's Day bowling challenge to Senator Barack Obama, the Pennsylvania Bowling Proprietors' Association (PABPA), in tandem with Strike Ten Entertainment - the marketing arm of the national Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA), today announced a state-wide
"Bowl Your Vote" challenge that will be executed across more than 130 bowling centers. On April 11, 12, and 13, and timed to the Democratic Presidential primary, state residents who bowl at PABPA centers will be able to vote for their candidate by donating their pin scores.

Bowling Coaches Hall of Fame Task Force meets; Inductee Application developed
Application Deadline set for April 15, 2008

In response to The Skills Center, a division of Strike Ten Entertainment (STE), establishing a new national recognition for bowling coaches and/or instructors as well as the creation of a
Hall of Fame for Bowling Coaches and Instructors, the Coaches Hall of Fame Task Force has developed and is releasing the inductee application for widespread distribution. Applications are now available on several websites including Bowlingdigital.com.

BPAA Co-Endorses Integration with USBC

The Board of Directors of the
Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA), at its Board meeting on January 24, 2008 at the Bowling Summit, unanimously endorsed the proposal for purchase of a building and land in Arlington, Texas for an integration of facilities with the United States Bowling Congress (USBC). USBC's Board of Directors had met days earlier at the Summit and voted to pursue these negotiations.

Howard Baum to receive 2008 Victor Lerner Memorial Medal and BPAA Hall of Fame Induction

The
Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA) announced the recipients of the 2008 Bowling Industry Service Awards, the most prestigious awards presented by the bowling industry, at its recent Town Hall Membership Meeting held in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Tuesday, January 22nd.
Howard Baum, longtime bowling industry veteran and former BPAA Board Member has been selected as the 2008 BPAA Hall of Fame Inductee and recipient of the Victor Lerner Memorial Medal.

BPAA names Bill Supper as Association's Deputy Executive Director

Bowling Industry Veteran
Bill Supper has been promoted to the position of Deputy Executive Director effective January 1, 2008, according to the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA). Supper has vast domestic and international experience with distributors, pro shops, bowling proprietors and bowlers. A former PBA Member and well-known in the bowling industry, he served in many capacities at three major bowling manufacturers.
