Bowlers Lambert, Lewis goes mining for gold in South Korea By Denis LeBlanc

Tenpin bowlers George Lambert IV (left) of Hamilton and Burlington's Lionel Lewis (right) give added experience to Team Canada when the Men's World Championships begin August 30 in Busan, South Korea. Canada is one of 45 countries entered in the tournament which concludes September 8.

The 26-year-old Lambert, who won a gold medal earlier this year in the team event at the Commonwealth Tenpin Championships in Melbourne, Australia, has been a Team Canada member since 2000 when he was named Canadian Male Bowler of the Year.

Lewis, 37, is a former Team Canada member and has been a bowler for 23 year.

Rounding out the Canadian team are Whitby's Ray Vervynck, a five-time Team Canada member who recently won a silver medal at the Tournament of Americas in the men’s All Events; Mississauga's Joe Ciach is a five-time Team Canada member and six-time Toronto Male Bowler of the Year; Windsor's Jason Kovack is a former Team Canada member and has been bowling for 20 years; and Montreal's Jonathan Simoneau represented Canada at the World Youth Championships in Germany in July.

Canada last won a medal in men's competition at the world tournament in 1995 when Marc Doi of Mississauga and Bill Rowe of Hamilton won gold and silver respectively in singles competition.
