Esther Cheah (r.) from Malaysia started the bowling competition in the 15th Asian Games in Doha, Qatar, with victory in the women's Singles event.

The reigning World Champion in Singles opened with back-to-back 243-games and added 213, 258, 233 and 254 for 1444 pinfall total and an average of 240.67.

Cheah was the sole player from the second squad who was able to beat the top three from Squad 1. Putty Armein (left) from Indonesia earned the silver medal with 1395, while Angkana Netrviseth (right), Thailand, received bronze with 1331.

Putty Armein from Indonesia rolled games of 235, 258, 214, 178, 276 and 234 to lead the women's Singles at the 15th Asian Games in Doha, Qatar with a huge 1395 six-game series, an average of 232.50. Armein is 64 pins ahead of Angkana Netrviseth, Thailand, who checked in with 1331 (221.83). Third place belonged to Kanako Ishimine, Japan, with 1328. Armein has to sit and wait until the 38 players from Squad 2 have completed their six-game block.
