Daniel Lim, Ben Heng and Aaron Kong from Malaysia, who led the Men's Trios event at the 15th Asian Games after the first block on short oil, posted the highest score on the long oil pattern (2091) Wednesday to cruise to victory with 4089 six-game total and an average of 227.17. Kong led the trio with 1392 (232.00). Heng was close behind with 1374 and Lim added 1323.

Defending Asian Games Trios champions Lee Yu-Wen and Remy Ong and their new partner Jason Yeong-Nathan leaped from fifth to second place behind the third-best series on long oil (2044) to earn the silver medal. The Singaporeans were 104 pins behind the Malaysians with 3985 (221.39).

Hassan Al Shaikh, Faisal Al Juraifani and Bader Al Shaikh from Saudi Arabia leaped from seventh place to third behind a 2004 effort to help grab the bronze medal with 3871 (215.06). Azidi Ameran, Zulmazran Zulkifli and Alex Liew started the second day with games of 730 and 681. Needing a 631 final game to steal the bronze medal, the Malaysians closed out with 611 to settle for fourth place with 3852 (214.00).

Trailing the Malaysians by mere nine pins to sit in second place are Paeng Nepomuceno, Tyrone Ongpauco and Chester King from the Philippines with 1989 (221.00). Nepomuceno had games of 246, 196 and 298 to lead all players with 740 three-game total.

Third place belonged to Japan's Toshihiko Takahashi, Yoshinao Masatoki and Masaaki Takemoto with 1981 (220.11). Defending Asian Games Trios champions Lee Yu-Wen and Remy Ong and their new partner Jason Yeong-Nathan currently sit in fifth place with 1941 (215.67), mere 57 pins off the pace for gold.

All 37 trios will return tomorrow for the second three-game block on long oil.
