American Zone Ranking Final 

Now Official: Arturo Hernandez and Rocio Restrepo win 2006 American Zone Ranking Finals

The tournament determined the 8 women and 8 men who will be eligible to represent the American Zone in the World Ranking Masters in Doha, Qatar, in April.

Hernandez led the 30-player men's field on dual lane condition - left lane with short oil and right lane with long oil pattern - with 1780 8-game total and an average of 222.50. The Venezuelan veteran, who was the best on short oil and the second-best on long oil, finished with 5369 pinfall total and an overall average of 223.71.

Canadian Mark Buffa (right) rolled the second-highest block on Day 3 to land in third position with 5070.

Rounding out the top 8 were David Romero, Colombia; Francisco Colon, Puerto Rico; Rolando Antonio Sebelen, Dominican Republic; Manuel Otalora and Jaime Monroy, both Colombia.

Restrepo, who took the lead in the women's division after a 1768-series on long oil, maintained her lead with a 1660-set, a 207.50 average, on the short/long pattern, the second-highest block of the day. The Colombian averaged 210.54 for 24 games and felled 5053 pins.

Lagrange totaled 4970 pins. Alicia Marcano (right), Venezuela, who fell from first to ninth on long oil, rebounded with the third-best 1633-series to regain a spot in the top 8 and to land in 6th place with 4741.

Rounding out the 8 were Paola Gomez and reigning World Ranking Masters champion Sara Vargas, both Colombia; Alicia's sister Karen Marcano; Lynne Gauthier, Canada; and Patricia Ciotti, Venezuela.


61 competitors (28 men and 29 women, who are among the top bowlers from the North, Caribbean, Central and South regions of the zone as well as two men and two women selected by the host country, Dominican Republic) determined the 8 women and 8 men who will be eligible to represent the American Zone in the World Ranking Masters in Doha, Qatar (April 30 - May 6).

All players bowled three blocks of eight games on short, long and short/long oil in a 3-day competition.
