Italy leads Boys Trios event after Squad 1 has completed six games in 20th European Youth Championships

Daniele Tomatis, Tommaso Radi and Augusto Formisano (l-r with coach Salvatore Lansafame and team manager Sam Anker) set the pace in the Boys Trios event at the European Youth Championships in Greece. The Italians, who also led the first of three squads after the first block with 1930 (640, 652, 638) rolled games of 643, 635 and 635 for 1913 and a 3843, an average of 213.50. Tomatis led the way with 1307, followed by Formisano with 1294 and Radi with 1242.
The Italians were second after the first day trailing only leader Johan Sörensen, Kim Ojala and Johan Hellden from Sweden, by 57 pins.
L-R England's Matt Miller, Andrew Jones and Matt Chamberlain, third after day one, fell behind after games of 587 and 610 but a huge 686 game, the high game of the squad, propelled them into second place with 3796 (210.89). Miller had 1299 and was followed by Jones, who had 1279. Chamberlain finished with 266 for a 1218 series.
Doubles gold medalists Aviv Alfital (left) - Ben Fishler (right) and Oron Cohen (center) had games of 620, 603 and 647 to finish the squad in third place with 3752 (208.44). Fishler beat out Alfital by five pins, 1279 to 1274, and Cohen added 1199.
Germany moved to second place after two games (667 and 587) but slipped out off the medals to fourth despite a solid 613 score in the last game.
L-R Markus Häuser, Michael Koch and Andre Schröder totaled 3741 pins and averaged 207.83 for six games. Häuser led the team with 1276 and was followed by Schröder (1267) and Koch (1198). The top 3 trios have to sit and wait for the results of Squad 2 and 3 and Squads 2 and 3 at 5.45pm and 9.00pm at local time (GM plus 2 hours).
