2007 Brunswick Team England #7

Williams blasts through knockout rounds to cruise to PTBC title in Bromborough

Kendall and Glover win the rankings

2007BTE07KendallWilliams.jpg After a slow start in qualifying, a lowly 19th place, Stuart Williams (right) blasted through five knockout rounds averaging 233 over 13 games to take the PTBC title at the Bowl in Bromborough.

En route he took it out on England’s ladies, defeating Jenny Billingham and Jo Harries two matches to one (Jo knocking over more pins than the World Ranking Masters champion), followed by a 2-0 win over Zara Glover with a 267-253 pair of games.

In the semis Matt Giles fell 2-0 in a low scoring match. The other semi saw Rob Kendall (left) make the final with a close 2-0 over Wayne Greenall. Kendall beat Williams in the final first game 227-196, but Williams replied with 234 and 247 to take the title.

Consolation for Kendall and Glover is that they both won maximum Brunswick Team England ranking points, Kendall’s first win, Glover’s third of the season from just four events. Adam Scott made his third runners-up spot of the season, surely a win will not be far off. Jemma Smith leads the ladies rankings and Jon Zadel the men’s after seven events.
