2007 Danish Masters has been cancelled
Gert Nielsen, organizer of the Danish Masters Classic, the 14th stop on the 2007 European Bowling Tour, has announced the tournament scheduled for August 3-12 has been cancelled. As in 2005, when the tournament was off the EBT schedule, Nielsen cited a lack of participants as the main reason."At this time only 125 players have made reservation to the tournament and only 60 players outside Denmark is coming to play the tournament this year," Nielsen wrote. "Experience from earlier years is, that up to 20 players are cancelling, and therefore have we made this decision."
After the Viernheim Open and the Kungsbacka International, this is the third event and the second "major" tournament that disappeared from the EBT schedule during the season. Prior to the season start the Olympia Tournament in Helsingborg withdrew.
EBT Director Kim Thorsgaard Jensen, Denmark, has informed the European Tenpin Bowling Federation member federations that "Gert Nielsen has announced that he, despite the cancellation, will fulfill all financial obligations towards ETBF, which will give the organizer an option for having other tournaments internationally approved in the future."
