Team USA athletes elect Cain and re-elect Hoffman to serve on USBC Board

2007PAGTTBillHoffman_small.jpg 2006EBT18AndrewCain_small.jpg Team USA athletes elected former Team USA member Andrew Cain (left) of Scottsdale, Ariz., and re-elected current team member Bill Hoffman (right) as athlete representatives on the United States Bowling Congress Board of Directors to serve three-year terms beginning Aug. 1.

Cain, who has won numerous medals in international competition, is a three-time member of Team USA (2002, 2003, 2005) and was a member of Junior Team USA in 2001. The 2001 U.S. Amateur champion and two-time first-team Collegiate All-American was named the 2002 United States Olympic Committee Bowler of the Year and 2001 Bowling Writers Association of America Amateur Bowler of the Year.

Serving in his second term, Hoffman was the 1999 and 2003 U.S. Amateur champion and is a six-time Team USA member. The Columbus, Ohio, resident has served as a delegate to the Federation Internationale des Quilleurs World Tenpin Bowling Association and on the USA Bowling International Relations Committee. He currently is a member of the WTBA Tournament Committee.

"Their vast experience in international competition will continue to be a valuable asset to the board as USBC continues to work toward its vision of growing the sport," said USBC President Michael Carroll. "Their input and direction will help us in our efforts in promoting the recognition of, and participation in, bowling as a sport."

The USBC Board of Directors consists of 25 members which includes 14 directors (including two proprietor representatives) elected at USBC's annual meeting, two directors-at-large, five directors who are current or former Team USA athletes, three directors elected by the Youth Committee and one Youth Leader director.

The three other athlete board representatives are Diandra Asbaty of Chicago, Sam Lantto, of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Sean Rash of Wichita, Kan.
