Rivera and Lai cruise to victory in ABF Tour Indonesia leg

2006MWCBiboyRivera_small.jpg 2007WRMLaiKinNgoh_small.jpg Biboy Rivera, Philippines and Lai Kin Ngoh, Malaysia, flew past their opponents to cruise to victory in the Asian Bowling Federation Tour Indonesia leg, the fifth stop of the ABF Tour in the year 2007.

Rivera, who shot a perfect game in the 2006 World Championships Masters title match to beat Germany's Achim Grabowski, 3-2, easily defeated Wu Siu Hong, Hong Kong, 209-168 to win his first career ABF Tour title.

Rivera fired the men's high game to defeat Daniel Yiu, also of Hong Kong, 257-208, while Siu Hong eliminated local favorite Ryan Lalisang in the other semi-final match, 234-214.

On the women's side, former Malaysian international Lai Kin Ngoh topped 2006 Asian ranking leader Putty Armein, Indonesia, 216-188, to win the Indonesia leg for the second time after 2005.

The lefty ousted Hong Kong's Chan Shuk Han, 197-174, in the semi-final. Armein survived a strong challenge by current Asian ranking leader Kim Eun-Jung, Korea, 212-205, to advance to the title match.

Local favorites sideline Indonesia Open champions in ABF Tour Indonesia leg


2006AsCSinglesPuttyArmeinRyanLalisang.jpg Indonesia's No. 1 male and female bowler, Ryan Lalisang and Putty Armein, sidelined Indonesia Open champions Jason Belmonte, Australia, and Bernice Lim, Singapore, in the quarterfinals of the Asian Bowling Federation Tour Indonesia leg to advance to the semi-finals.

Asian Games champion Lalisang, who won the ABFT Kuwait title earlier this year, topped the two-hander from Down Under, 250-221, to set up a match with Wu Siu Hong from Hong Kong. In the other semi-final World Championships Masters champion Biboy Rivera, Philippines, will meet Siu Hong compatriot Daniel Yiu.

Armein, the 2006 Asian Bowling Federation ranking champion, flew past Lim, 235-197, to set up a semi-final match with Kim Eun-Jung, Korea. Long-time Malaysian international Lai Kin Ngoh will take on Chan Shuk Han, Hong Kong, in the other match.
