Live Coverage from the 1st Maribor Open Strike Tournament 2007
Qualifying continues today at 4 p.m. local time (GMT +1)
The Maribor Open Strike Tournament is designated as a newcomer on the 2008 European Bowling Tour. The inaugural Maribor Open started on Sep. 8 and runs through Sep. 16, 2007 at Strike Bowling Center, a state-of-the-art 16-laner with the latest Brunswick equipment in Maribor, Slovenia.

The Maribor Open offers total prize money of 73.000 Euro or approximately 100,000 U.S. Dollar. Men and women will compete in the same division with women receiving 8 pins handicap, the standard on the European Bowling Tour.The winner will receive the 8.000 Euro top prize (approx. $11,000).

Thomas Tybl (l.) and Thomas Gross (r.) from Austria, who won the gold medal in Doubles at the 2007 European Championships, took the qualifying lead after the first weekend with 1431 and 1330 six-game total, respectively. Gross' wife Ivonne is the top-ranked woman in third place with 1325 including handicap.
Bowlingdigital will cover the event live from Maribor all the way through to the finals on Sunday, September 16. Qualifying continues on Thursday, September 13 at 4 p.m. local time (GMT +1) with Squad 17. The four-player stepladder finals will be broadcasted live on Slovenian television in a two-hour show from Strike Bowling Center starting at 6 p.m. on Sunday.
