Manico, Petty wait until the final squad to win the Doubles in 6th Columbia 300 Vienna Open
Formula One star Robert Kubica shoots 218 to qualify for the finals through Desperado Squad

Tanya Petty (left) saved the best for the 17th and last qualifying squad in the 6th Columbia 300 Vienna Open at Plus Bowling in Vienna, Austria.
Petty, a 3-time European Champions Cup winner and former World Champion in Doubles, had high games of 279, 259, and 247 and low games of 213, 215, and 216 to rocket into third place in the Singles qualifying standings with 1477 six-game total including 48 pins handicap, an average of 238.20 scratch.
Multiple Swiss champion Manico added 1301 to qualify for the main event on Sunday and to secure the first place in the Doubles competition with 2778 total (223.50 scratch). The winners will share the 1.600 Euro top prize. J
ason Belmonte, Australia, won the Singles qualifying with 1517 (252.83).

Barnes competes on European Bowling Tour for first time

Lynda Barnes is widely considered one of the best bowlers in the world - male or female. So when she arrived to compete in the 2008 Columbia 300 Vienna Open, she was a little stunned to find out that even she would get eight pins a game handicap.

European Champions Cup 2010 to be held in Mersin, Turkey
The European Tenpin Bowling Federation has announced that the ETBF Presidium has decided at a meeting recently held in Ankara, Turkey that the
European Champions Cup 2010 will be given to Turkey. The event will be staged at 16-lane Rollhouse Bowling Center in Mersin, a large city and a busy port on the Mediterranean coast of southern Turkey. The center hosted the Mediterranean Challenge Cup in 2007. The ECC 2010 will be held from October 25 through November 1, 2010.

Pirates win International Team Event in Switzerland
"Les Pirates" from Bowling Club Leman (pictured left) won the inaugural International Team Event (ITE) SWISS at Bowling Center Miami in Lausanne, Switzerland. The winning team featured reigning Swiss national champion Valerie Cornuz and Jean-Louis Grolhier, as well as former champion Ivan Zini and previous Bowling World Cup participants Jean-Marc Godel and Philippe Huber.

Formula One driver takes on field in Vienna

Robert Kubica has success in each race. In his short career as a bowler, he's finding many of the same factors apply in the sport of bowling.
With four events remaining on the schedule for the 2008 European Bowling Tour, Osku Palermaa from Finland and Kirsten Penny, England sit in the driver's seat in the men's and women's European rankings.
The first-ever IBPSIA "Hands on Training Seminars" (H.O.T.S.) European tour concluded this week with the class held in Brno in the Czech Republic.
Former World Games champion and long-time German national team member Patricia Luoto defeated Martin Paulsson, Sweden, 224-201, to win the 6th Columbia 300 Vienna Open Sunday afternoon at Plus Bowling in Vienna, Austria.
The American team has won the 2008 Weber Cup as the side of Tim Mack, Pete Weber, Jason Couch, Chris Barnes and Tommy Jones triumphed in the final Baker to win the trophy for the third successive time by a margin of 17-13.
Janine Gabel from Germany had games between 194 and 266 Sunday morning at Plus Bowling in Vienna en route to lead the top 24 players from Final Round One into the single-elimination match play portion of the 6th Columbia 300 Vienna Open.
