Ong, Limansantoso come from behind to win the Masters titles at 24th Southeast Asian Games

2007SEAGamesLogo.jpg In the men's title match between two Asian Games champions, Remy Ong from Singapore, the No. 2 seed, defeated top-seeded Ryan Lalisang, Indonesia over two games total pinfall by just one pin, 441-440, to win the coveted Masters title in the 24th Southeast Asian Games at SF Strike Bowl Ramkhamhaeng in Bangkok, Thailand.

In the opening match, Ong eliminated No. 3 seed Zulmazran Zulkifli, Malaysia, 194-159. Zulkifli bowled the highest series (1760 including 60 bonus) in the second 8-game block on short oil to leap from a tied 11th place to third. His team mate Adrian Ang, who was second after the first block on long oil, slipped to 8th place behind a 1467 series including 20 bonus.

Local favorite Yannaphon Larp-apharat missed the cut to the top three, who advanced to the stepladder finals to bowl for the medals, by 10 pins due to a 168 final game.

On the women's side, Sharon Limansantoso, Indonesia, seeded third, ousted her team mate Tannya Roumimper in the opening match, 206-190, and then flew past Esther Cheah, Malaysia, 427-365, to earn the women's title.

Day one leader Sharon Koh, Malaysia, had only one game over 200 on the short pattern (202) and seven games below including low games of 129 and 149 to slip all the way out of the stepladder to No. 7.

The SEA Games bowling competition will conclude with the Mixed Doubles event on Friday, Dec. 14.
