2008 European Bowling Tour #12
The Maribor Open, 12th stop of the European Bowling Tour, has been cancelled
Bowling Center Strike in Maribor, Slovenia (Sep. 6-14, 2008)
Kim Thorsgaard Jensen, Director of the European Bowling Tour, has announced that the organizer of the 2nd Maribor Open Strike Tournament, originally scheduled to be held from September 6-14, 2008 in Maribor, Slovenia, have informed the ETBF on Sunday, August 31, 2008, that they are cancelling the tournament due to the low number of entries. "We have replied to the organizer, the Bowling Centre Strike in Maribor, that we deeply regret their action and that the cancellation will be met by financial claims", wrote Thorsgaard Jensen.
From the player’s perspective, Article 14.4 in the EBT 2008 Rules is important:
If a tournament is cancelled (regardless the moment), players, who have already entered, must be compensated in full for any incurred loss or damage, meaning for example that non refundable tickets for air and/or surface transportation must be reimbursed by the organizer upon receipt of proven documentation.
"In any case, where a player is meeting the requirements presented in Article 14.4, the player must send an electronically issue of the documentation to Wolfgang Lohschmid at the email address wolfgang.lohschmid@chello.at together with relevant bank details. Wolfgang Lohschmid will then take care of collecting the claims and present them for the organizer."
It is essential to underline
- that the tournament is not organized by Wolfgang Lohschmid,
- that the decision of cancelling the tournament was not made by Wolfgang Lohschmid,
- that Wolfgang Lohschmid in general is hired to manage the tournament only and therefore
- that Wolfgang Lohschmid has no financial obligations for the tournament.
Anyhow, Wolfgang Lohschmid will do his best to help players with a documented financial loss occurred as a consequence of the cancellation, to be compensated according to Article 14.4 by the organizer, the Bowling Centre Strike in Maribor.
