2008EBT1KristaPollanen_small.jpg 2008EBT1JouniHelminen_small.jpg Ballmaster Open champion Jouni Helminen and women's ranking leader Krista Pöllänen, both Finland, remained atop the men's and women's European Bowling Tour rankings though they did not compete in the second tour stop, the Ebonite International Luxembourg Open.

As an EBT Challenger event, the Luxembourg Open offered half of the ranking points that were given in the Ballmaster, an EBT "Major", the Finns continued to lead with 100 points.

2007MOMartinLarsen_small.jpg Luxembourg champion Martin Larsen (left), Sweden, added 50 points to the 26 he has earned in Helsinki to move into fourth place in the men's rankings. Larsen is one of mere seven players who have participated in both events.

3-time EBT ranking champion Paul Moor leaped into second place with 93 points. Dominic Barrett, both England, used a fourth-place finish to overtake fifth place with 60 points. Defending ranking champion Osku Palermaa, Finland and World Ranking Masters champion Stuart Williams, England, sit in seventh and eighth place with 58 and 53 pints, while Peter Ljung and Robert Andersson, both Sweden, are 12th and 17th with 45 and 28 points, resp.

2006BWCMarylinPlanchard_small.jpg The top 3 women from the Ballmaster, Pöllänen (100), Jenni Mäkelä (80) and Piritta Kantola (70), all Finland, continued to lead the women's rankings. Marilyn Planchard (right), France, who won the women's rankings in Luxembourg, jumped into sixth place with 50 points.

Alexandra Filor (nee Göbel), Germany, moved into fourth place with 62 points. Alexandra, her twin sister Michaela and Ghislaine van der Tol, Nicole Sanders, both Netherlands, Diana Zavjalova, Lithuania and Yvonne Fischer, Germany, are the only women who cashed points in Helsinki and Luxembourg.

The European Bowling Tour moves to the Netherlands for the Hammer Bronzen Schietspoel Tournament 2008 at Dolfijn Bowling in Tilburg. The EBT "Major" which runs from Feb. 3-10, 2008 almost clashed with the Luxembourg Open and will take over the slot on the 2009 EBT Tour. The organizers of the Luxembourg Open have announced yesterday that they will withdraw from the 2009 EBT.
