Helmy wins his third ranking title this year in Egypt

2008HurghadaTarekHelmy_small.jpg Tarek "Taco" Helmy (left) won his third title in an Egyptian ranking event this year when he defeated Mostafa Seoud, 225-192, in the title match of the Police Tournament. Helmy, who won the tournament in Hurghada and the Team Egypt Trials earlier this year, was the No. 3 seed in the four-player stepladder final.

He won the opening match against Karim Elgewaily, 195-179, and then ousted first round leader Karim Sheriff, 212-202, in the semi-final.

2008EGTPoliceTournamentTop3.jpg The Police Tournament was the fourth ranking event for the Egyptian national team in preparation for the Asian Championships and the Men's World Championships to be held at SF Strike Bowl Ngamwongwan in Nonthaburi, Thailand from August 20-31, 2008.

All players bowled three blocks of six games qualifying over 3 days. The top 12 advanced to round robin match play to determine the top 4 for the stepladder finals.

The next event is the biggest tournament in Egypt, the 10th Sinai International Open Tenpin Bowling Tournament at the International Bowling Center in Cairo scheduled for April 30 through May 8, 2008.
