Clash of Champions ready to rock

Kansas City Municipal Auditorium, in Kansas City, Mo., United States (May 7-8, 2008)

The seeds have been determined, the set has been built and Bowling's Clash of Champions, one of the most unique events the sport has ever seen, is ready to roll.

The Clash, a United States Bowling Congress event, will be taped Thursday night at the Kansas City Municipal Auditorium and will air as two separate shows on CBS Sports on Saturday at 5 p.m. Eastern and Sunday at 4 p.m. Eastern.

In Thursday's "clashes," Weber will battle Mike Rose Jr., Sean Rash and Adam Martinez while Kulick takes on Liz Johnson, Elysia Current and Jenny Brown. The other pairings include second seed Tom Baker battling Tim Pfeifer, Jason Price and David O'Sullivan while the women's No. 2 seed, Lynda Barnes, will take on Brittni Hamilton, Wendy Macpherson and Lucy Sandelin.

The clashes will be contested at breakneck speed as players face sudden death elimination on every shot. The groups each bowl three rounds and one player must be eliminated from each round. Each round consists of the bowlers throwing one shot and the bowler with the lowest pinfall is eliminated.

The winners of each group advance to the second telecast where the two women and two men will bowl semifinal matches, guaranteeing a man vs. woman championship match for the $50,000 first prize.
