Selections complete 2009 Team Canada

Julie Johnson-Loyer, Chateauguay, Quebec and Lynne Gauthier (left), East St. Paul, Manitoba are named to the women's team. Mark Buffa (right), Montreal, QC and Art Oliver Jr., Hamilton, Ontario are named to the men's team.

Johnson-Loyer, Gauthier and Buffa are members of the 2008 team. Oliver was a member of Team Canada at the 1998 World Tenpin Team Cup. All selected team members bring a wealth of international experience to the team.

The CTF National Championships conducted in Winnipeg, Manitoba, May 16-20, 2008 decided six of the adult eight men and women and four plus an alternate men and women who are under 20 as of January 1, 2009 who will bowl for Canada at adult and youth events in 2009.

Two additional men and women are then selected by the committee to complete the adult team of eight men and women from the top 18 men finishers and the top 12 women in the championships. 71 men and 43 women competed.

The selected team members will join the top six scorers from the Winnipeg championships on the 2009 national adult team. Isabel Rioux, Trios Rivieries, QC, Felicia Wong, Calgary, Alberta, Robin Orlikowski, a Canadian citizen living in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Kerry Ryan-Ciach, Mississauga, Ontario, Melissa Legault, Sarnia, On. and Alyssa Cicconi, Montreal, QC were the top scorers for the adult women.

Ryan Reid, Campbell River, British Columbia, Joe Ciach, Mississauga, On., Terry Krawec, St. Catharines, On, Corey Clayton, Calgary, Ab., Dan Tereck, Winnipeg, Mb. and Chris Clerke, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan complete the men's team.

The 'under 20' Youth Team Canada members from the championships are: Rosalie Hiscock, Laval, Quebec, Pamela Beaudin, Chatequay, QC, Valerie Calberry, Brampton, On., Kodee Pilling, Lethbridge, Ab., for the women.

Mathieu Beaudoin, Sherbrooke, QC, Raymond Lussier, Montreal, QC, Massimo Catanzariti, Montreal, QC, Guillaume Trahan, Napierville, QC for the men. Kirsti Long and Brendan Rodgers, Edmonton, Ab. are the alternates.

The 2009 international competition calendar includes the Women's World Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada tentatively scheduled for July 25-Aug. 2, 2009. The Men and Women's PABCON (American Zone) Championships, scheduled for Puerto Rico at a date to be determined. The PABCON Youth Championships scheduled for Bogota, Colombia and the Tournament of the Americas in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida for the adults in August.
