Japanese Junior High and High School champions determined in Kyoto and Tokyo
The Japanese Junior High School Championships and High School Championships were contested during the summer vacation of Japanese schools in July. Both championships were held under the patronage of the Minister of Education, Culture, Science, Sports and Technology (MEXT).
The JOC Junior Olympic Cup 32nd All Japan High School was held from July 22-23 at Shinagawa Prince Hotel Bowling Center, Tokyo. Besides MEXT, the event was sponsored by the Japan Sports Association and the Japanese Olympic Committee.
The championship drew 146 boys and 92 girls. The top 30 boys and 21 girls after 9 games of qualifying advanced to the final round. of 3 games. Champions and winners (top 6) were decided based on total pinfall over 12 games.
In boys division, Yusuke Masumizu of Fukuoka Daiichi High School posted a championship record 2914 total to win the title with a comfortable 159-pin buffer over Akio Matsui, Aichi, Nanzan H.S. (2755)
On the girls side, 2006 and 2007 Junior High School champion Misaki Mukoutani of Chiba Meitoku High School continued her winning streak with a 2628 pinfall total, 178 pins ahead of second-placed Tomoyo Yano, Miyazaki, Miyazaki Prefectural Miyazaki Agriculture H.S., (2450)
The 32nd All Japan Junior High School Championships formerly held in conjunction with the High School Championships will be held for the next 10 years in Uji City, Kyoto, as an activity to assist regional promotion with the support of Japan Center of Regional Development (JCRD) and governmental funding.
94 boys and 62 bowled 9 games of qualifying to cut to the top 8 boys and girls who determined the champions in stepladder finals. Championship high lights and both championship matches were broadcasted on Sky A, a local satellite TV.

Boys' No. 1 seed, Katsuhito Nakano (left) of Kurume Municipal Kitano Junior High School stopped Tetsuya Chiba, Shiga, Otsu Municipal Katata J.H.S., who won the shootout match and the semifinal, in the title match, 217-181, to claim the title.
In the girls division, second-seeded Shinobu Saito (right) of Aomori Municipal Tsukurimichi Junior High School flew past No. 1 seeded Yuka Oshima, Saitama, Kawagoe Municipal Naguwashi J.H.S., 279-195, to secure the title.
