American Zone 

Defending champion Clara Guerrero locks up spot for 2006 World Ranking Masters

2004WRMClaraGuerrero.jpg Defending World Ranking Masters champion Clara Guerrero took the lead in the American Zone Ranking Final in Panama after the first of three 8-game blocks and never looked back. The Colombian finished atop the women's leaderboard with 4989 24-game total and an average of 207,88 to lock up her spot for the 2006 World Ranking Masters in Kuwait.

The American Zone Ranking Final concluded the 2005 American Zone ranking season. All players bowled three 8-game blocks on short oil (34 feet), long oil (43 feet) and on short/long oil condition over three days to determine the eight women who will participate in the 2006 World Ranking Masters in Kuwait.

Karen Marcano of Venezuela was the best player on dual lane condition on Friday. Her 1692 eight-game total helped her to maintain second place and narrow the gap to Guerrero. Marcano ended up with 4914 pinfall total and an average of 204,75.

Third place went to her fellow country woman Inngellimar Contreras, who won the competition on the long oil pattern on Thursday. The chairwoman of the organizing committee for the 2006 QubicaAMF World Cup in Caracas, Venezuela, checked in with 4829 and 201,21.

Only the top three women averaged 200-plus. Joining Guerrero, Marcano and Contreras at the World Ranking Masters in Kuwait are 4. Luz Leal, Colombia, 4791 5. Mariana Ayala, Puerto Rico, 4702 6. Sara Vargas, Colombia, 4607 7. Diana Leal, Colombia, 4551 and 8. Lynne Gauthier, Canada, 4549.
