Sue_Abela_3847.jpg Sue Abela from Malta added yet another MCC title to her impressive collection when she won the women's Singles in the IX Mediterranean Challenge Cup at Rose'n'Bowl in Serravalle, San Marino.

Abela started with the high game of the day (257) and never looked back. Her 1348 six-game series, a 224,67 average, was 110 pins better than the 1238 from Natassa Rovithaki, Greece, who took the silver medal. Bronze went to M.Cristina Sgrosso, Italy, with 1224.

Abela has finished among the top 3 in MCC Singles in every year since the first Mediterranean Challenge Cup in Nikosia, Cyprus, in 1998. She won her four Singles titles in the even years (2000, 2002, 2004 and 2006).

This was the 17th gold medal for the Maltese international and her 29th MCC medal overall (17 gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze). With two just events or 12 games remaining and a 110-pin bolster from the Singles event, Abela targets another gold medal in All Events. Abela has won in All Events in every year but 2001, when she finished fourth.
