2006WYCGirlsSingles.jpg Needing a 171-score in the final game, Valerie Teo of Singapore rolled a 173-game to overtake her team mate Cherie Tan and win the gold medal in the Girl's Singles at the 9th World Youth Championships 2006 in Berlin.

Valerie totaled 1193 pins over six games, with Cherie in second place at 1190. Stefanie Nation, United States, earned the bronze medal with 1181.

Her team mate Michelle Quirk had to settle for fourth place with 1173 behind a 177 final game.

Girls Singles - Squad 2 after 6 Games





Cherie Tan leads in Girls Singles after Squad 1/2


Singapore's Cherie Tan Shi Hua started the 9th World Youth Championships 2006 at Bowlingcenter Schillerpark in Berlin, Germany, with an 1190 six-game series to help grab the lead in the Girls Singles after the first of two squads.

Cherie had games of 195, 199, 199, 212, 164 and 221 on the short oil pattern, an average of 198,33 over six games.

Team USA's Stefanie Nation currently holds the silver medal spot with 1181. Stefanie tied Cherie after five games with 969, but the higher last game (221-212) made the difference.

Third place belonged to Park Mi-Ran, Korea, who checked in with 1144. Yasmeen Ahmed of Bahrain, who is currently in 21st place with 1047 shot the highest game of squad 1 with 228.

All other players were already out of the medals before Squad 2 took on the lanes at 1.30 pm.
