Tan, seeded 7th, decided to start on the short-oil pattern and won the first two games on this pattern. Asbaty, however, leveled the match twice when she won the second and fourth game on the long-oil pattern.

2003 Masters champion Diandra Asbaty, United States, ousted All Events champion and No. 1 seed, Choi Jin A, Korea, three-games-to-one, Friday in the Quarterfinal at Bol Obispado in Monterrey, Mexico.

The 10-time Team USA member, who won her second World Ranking Masters title earlier this year, bowled four games over 200 and was only defeated in game #3, when the Korean fired a 279 game.

Team USA's Tennelle Milligan was the sole player in the first round of the Masters finals at the Women's World Championships in Mexico, who swept her opponent to advance to the quarterfinals at Bol Obispado in Monterrey. The All Events silver medalist, seeded second, defeated Trios champion Malin Glendert, Sweden, three-game-to-none in the single-elimination best-of-five match play format.

Choi Jin A sets championship record to claim the gold medal in All Events at Women's World Championships

Despite rolling her lowest six-game series in the 2nd Women's World Championships, Choi Jin A from Korea, broke the championship record for 24 games en route to secure the gold medal in All Events (individual totals from Doubles, Trios, Team and Singles) at Bol Obispado in Monterrey, Mexico.

The Korean averaged 221.50 over 24 games and felled 5,316 pins. England's Zara Glover set the previous record when she won the All Events title in 2003 in Malaysia with 5,286.

O'Keefe rolls to singles gold at Women's World Championships

As the final squad of singles came to a close Thursday at the 2007 World Tenpin Bowling Association Women's World Championships, Team USA's Shannon O'Keefe of Rochester, N.Y., sat nervously waiting in the stands to hear if she would hold on to win the gold medal.

As the news got to her that she indeed had become just the second American woman in World Championships history to win the singles gold, O'Keefe gasped for air, threw her hands into her face and began crying.

England found success on the short pattern Tuesday, shooting 3,310 for three games to take the lead heading into Wednesday's final team block. The series included a record-breaking game of 1,261 in the second game, which included a perfect game by Kirsten Penny.

Fiona Banks led the team with 750, Followed by Penny (701), Lisa John (661), Zara Glover (646) and Jemma Smith (552). The fivesome averaged 220.67 for the first block and missed the WWC record for three games set by the Colombian team 2003 in Malaysia (3,335) by mere 25 pins.

Sweden's Helen Johnsson, Malin Glendert and Nina Flack (l-r) overcame a 43-pin deficit in the final game to win the gold medal in the Women's World Championships in Mexico. The Swedes, who finished the event with 3,970, shot 686 in the finale to top the first block leaders from the United States. Click on the image to enlarge it.

Johnsson, who moved into third place with 2746 (228.83), led the team with 1393, Glendert added 1329 and Flack contributed 1238 en route to break the old Championship record (3,811) set by 2005 World Champions Wang Yu-Lin, Huang Chiung-Yao and Chou Miao-Lin, Chinese Taipei, by 159 pins. The Swedes averaged 220.56 over six games, the first three on long oil and the second three on the short oil pattern.
