McKendree leads the eight-team field after the first day of qualifying at the 2017 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Women’s Bowling Championship.

The Bearcats (pictured above; photo McKendree Bowling), coached by six-time World Champion and four-time PWBA Tour champion, Shannon O’Keefe, posted a 5-0 record for five games Thursday at the Raising Cane’s River Center in Baton Rouge, La., and McKendree was the only team to go undefeated during the opening round.

Teams competing at the NCAA Women’s Bowling Championship are ranked through qualifying based on their win-loss records for a total of seven qualifying games.

Vanderbilt, the 2007 NCAA champion, sits in second place at 4-1, while defending champion, Stephen F. Austin, and two-time winner Fairleigh Dickinson are 3-2.

All eight teams will return to the lanes Friday at 11:50 a.m. Eastern for two additional games of qualifying, before seeding for the double-elimination match-play Baker bracket is determined.

The opening two rounds of bracket play will take place Friday evening, starting at 4:30 p.m. Eastern. Bracket play will continue Saturday until the final two teams are determined. They will face off for the national title live on ESPNU at 6:30 p.m. Eastern.
