Starting Saturday: Onsite Coverage of the WB World Championships

The World Bowling World Championships will be held from Nov. 25 through Dec. 4 at South Point Bowling Plaza in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.

Bowlingdigital will provide onsite coverage of the combined World Championships including reports, photos and results after each round commencing with women’s singles preliminaries on Saturday, Nov. 25, all the way through to masters match play on Monday, Dec. 4, completed in the late afternoon.

For the second time since 2013 (also in Las Vegas), the men will bowl alongside the women in a World Championship. The field, supposed to consists of 36 men’s and 36 women’s teams with maximum six players each (maximum 216 athletes per gender), features 36 men’s teams with 213 athletes (Aruba, Curacao and Estonia have only five players) and only 30 women’s teams with 176 athletes (Guatemala, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan and Romania have only five athletes).

35 of the 42 countries participating have registered total 92 coaches. Brazil, Dominican Republic, Estonia, Indonesia, Kuwait, Russia and Wales haven’t registered any coaches.

11 teams plus host country United States come from the Pan American Bowling Confederation (PABCON). The Asian Bowling Federation (ABF) will be represented by 13 teams and 17 teams come from the European Tenpin Bowling Federation (ETBF).

24 countries will participate in both men’s and women’s division. Those countries are: Brazil, Canada, Chinese Taipei, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, England, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, China, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Sweden, USA, Venezuela and Wales.

12 countries (Aruba, Australia, Curacao, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, Estonia, Kuwait, Norway, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain and Thailand) will send a men’s team and 6 countries (Guatemala, Hungary, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Romania, Ukraine) will send a women’s team.

The 2017 World Championships will award medals in six disciplines in each division – Singles, Doubles, Trios, Team, All-Events and Masters.

The Championships are run under the World Bowling Statutes and Playing Rules Chapter 2 (Universal Playing Rules), Chapter 5 (WC Format) and Chapter 4 (WC Principle Rules).
