Though Jenny Wegner of Sweden did not compete in the Rome Open All4bowling last week, she emerged as the European Bowling Tour women’s point ranking winner for the 2018 season.

Wegner (right), who won her first EBT title in the Brunswick Euro Challenge in March, leads the women’s rankings after 11 of 12 events with 719 and has a comfortable 113-point cushion on second place Mai Ginge Jensen of Denmark.

Jensen (featured photo) was the best of 47 women in Rome and earned 50 ranking points in the EBT “satellite” event, the lowest of five EBT categories (satellite, bronze, silver, gold and platinum), to leap one spot with 606 points.

With 100 points at stake for the winner of the season-ending Norwegian Open 2018 by Brunswick, Wegner has built an insurmountable lead and will win the women’s ranking for the third time in her career after 2015 and 2017.

Jensen was the lone top-50 bowler, who competed in Rome. Four-time EBT titlist Ghislaine Stigter-Van Der Tol (right), Netherlands, who had a mathematical chance to catch Wegner, slipped to third place with 575.

Rounding out the top 8 who will qualify for the EBT Masters in 2019 are Maxime De Rooij, Netherlands (520), two-time EBT champion Sin Li Jane (left), Malaysia (454), Cajsa Wegner, Sweden (424), Daria Pajak, Poland (415) and Siti Safiyah, Malaysia (392).

The 2018 European Bowling Tour concludes with the Norwegian Open 2018 by Brunswick, an EBT “bronze” tournament, which will be held October 5-14 at Lucky Bowl Veitvet in Oslo, Norway. BowlingDigital will provide onsite coverage of the event commencing Thursday, Oct. 11, all the way through to the finals on Sunday, Oct 14.

After the Aalborg International has been canceled, the 2018 European Bowling Tour features 12 tournaments in 10 countries including two “platinum”, two “gold”, three “silver”, two “bronze” and three “satellite” events, which will offer total prize fund of roughly 625.000 Euro.

The top 50 men and the top 50 women in each event receive ranking points. Those points will be tabulated throughout the season to determine the top 8 men and top 8 women, who will be eligible to compete in the 12th EBT Masters July 4, 2019 during the VII Brunswick Madrid Challenge at Bowling Chamartín in Madrid, Spain.
