Arlington-based Bowling Museum opens Nascar exhibit

2015IBMHOFLogoBlack_small.jpg NASCAR legend Richard Petty and driver Brian Scott helped the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame open a new exhibit today highlighting the rich history and connection between racing and bowling. The exhibit, "Bowling and NASCAR: Life in the Fast Lane," will be featured until Sept. 16 at the Arlington-based museum. It includes memorabilia ranging from NASCAR themed bowling balls to racing suits and trophies. Petty, an avid bowler, has loaned several items including an outfit and belt buckles.

Bowling Museum announces special item for October auction

In conjunction with Kegel, the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame announced the auction of the limited edition Patriotic Lane Machine. The proceeds from the auction are going to be split 50/50 between two great causes, Bowlers to Veterans Link and the International Bowling Hall of Fame. The retail value of this machine is $37,995.

4th annual IBMHOF Xtravaganza nets $38,000 for Bowling's Hall of Fame

Ohio proprietors Bill and Yogi Wamme are the 2015 Champions

2015IBMHOFXtravaganza4Logo_small.jpg Al and Yogi Wammes from Bowling Green, Ohio are the champions of the 4th Annual Xtravaganza, held at Red Rock Lanes May 29-June 1. They took home a check for $3000. When they are not bowling, the Wammes' operate Al-Mar Lanes, a 16-lane center in Bowling Green. The big winner, however, as it should be every time this event is held, is the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame, located on the International Bowling Campus in Arlington, Texas. More than $38,000 was raised to support the IBMHOF.

Proceeds from auction will benefit IBMHOF in its mission to preserve the history of bowling. The November auction will take place in The Bowling Museum Store on eBay. Bidders can find descriptions of each item including an original painting of Billy Hardwick (pictured), along with information on how to participate in the auction.

Proceeds from sales will benefit IBMHOF in its mission to preserve the history of bowling. The IBMHF plans to rotate items up for sale on a monthly basis, giving shoppers a new set of items on which to bid. The auction will take place in The Bowling Museum Store on eBay where bidders will find information on how to participate in the auction.

IBMHOF raises $25,000, elects new leadership at Bowl Expo

Even without the traditional Salute to Bowling this year, the IBMHOF still raised more than $25,000. Outgoing IBMHOF president/chairman of the board Keith Hamilton, who was stepping down after serving three terms as president/chairman will be followed by Industry veteran Bob Gudorf, executive vice president of Classic Products Corp.

The accomplishments include exhibit updates, technology upgrades and public relations successes. Years of planning and collaboration have led to funding and a formal plan to display USBC Hall of Famers, who have been inducted since the 2005 merger, in that satellite museum of the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev.

A generous gift, the Salute to Bowling, and the addition of three new board members highlighted a hectic International Bowl Expo week for the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame. It all began with a bang as Billiard and Bowling Institute of America President Chris Chartrand presented IBM/HF Chairman Keith Hamilton with a $35,000 check from the BBIA cash reserves. BBIA also presented another $35,000 to Bowlers to Veterans Link Board Chair Darlene Baker.

California couple wins IBMHOF's Xtravaganza Fund-Raising Tournament

For San Diego-area bowlers Joe and Theresa Prutch, competing in the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame's second-annual Xtravaganza fund-raising tournament was fun enough. To say they won it was even more special. The San Marcos, Calif., couple topped 94 teams competing May 31-June 2 at Red Rock Lanes in Las Vegas, taking the $3,000 top prize and their first tournament win in 20 years of bowling together. Plans already are underway for the 2014 event scheduled for May 29-June 1.

USBC Convention attendees kick off IBMHOF efforts to upgrade Hometown Heroics exhibit

201IBMHOFLogo_small.jpgThe International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame has launched a $125,000 capital campaign to redesign and re-construct its most popular exhibit, Hometown Heroics. The kiosk-style database features 300 games and 800 series rolled by United States Bowling Congress members and the names of local and state hall of famers. Plans call for the exhibit's hall of fame section to be expanded to include biographies and photos of individual hall of famers.

The 24th edition of Salute to Bowling will be held June 26 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Paris Hotel and Casino as part of International Bowl Expo in Las Vegas. It will feature a theme of "Go for the Gold" as it continues its goal to help fund IBMHOF operations.

International Bowling Museum/Hall of Fame satellite in Reno adds new pieces

When participants in the 2013 United States Bowling Congress Open and Women's Championships visit the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev., they will notice many changes. While some affect the actual bowling area, others can be seen in the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame's satellite facility on the ground floor. They include a Hall of Fame kiosk, large artist rendering of a bowling ball and pin, and the return of the famous American Bowling Congress Hall of Fame plaques.

International Bowling Museum/Hall of Fame raises money at Bowl Expo in Reno

More than $18,000 was secured from a raffle and silent auction at this year's event in late June in Reno, Nev. The IBMHOF also added three new members to its Board of Trustees and had all of its leadership re-elected to new terms effective August 1.

Fritton and Kaul accumulated a total of 980 points over the two day eight game event featuring a unique format to win the $5,000 top prize.

International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame Satellite Museum rolls into Reno

The IBMHOF teamed up with the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority to bring this exhibit to The Biggest Little City in the World. The new museum is an extension of the IBMHOF, which is located at the International Bowling Campus in Arlington, Texas.

Krol's big bid on Luby painting helps Salute to Bowling raise nearly $30,000

20111209JoeThumPaiting_small.jpgThanks to the work of one artist and the generosity of one bidder, the 2012 Salute to Bowling proved most fruitful to the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame. The 23rd Salute was held Jan. 23 during the 2012 BPAA Bowling Summit at the Meritage Resort in Napa Valley, Calif. It featured free admission courtesy of joint presenters Brunswick and Qubica/AMF, a wine and cheese party, cocktails and beverage, 50/50 raffle and silent and live auctions of items donated for the event. Overall, the evening raised nearly $30,000 for the IBMHOF.

Mort Luby Jr. donates Joe Thum painting as auction item for Salute to Bowling

20111209JoeThumPaiting_small.jpgA large (30" x 40") oil painting of bowling pioneer Joe Thum will be the star attraction at the Salute to Bowling at the 2012 Bowling Summit next month in Napa Valley, Calif. Created by Bowlers Journal International publisher emeritus Mort Luby Jr., the artwork will be featured in the collection of sports memorabilia to be auctioned at the fundraiser for the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame. Why Joe Thum? "I've always felt that Thum is one of bowling's unsung heroes," says Luby. "He really planted the seeds for bowling's worldwide growth."
