Tom Kouros to roll into Bowling Coaches Hall of Fame

Four Coaching Trailblazers Round Out Class Of 2009

TomKouros2009BowlingCoachesHoF_small.jpgInternationally acclaimed author and world-class bowling instructor Tom Kouros has been selected as the 2009 inductee into the Bowling Coaches Hall of Fame, recognizing superior coaching contributions to the sport. The formal induction will take place Wednesday morning, June 22, 2009 during International Bowl Expo's General Session at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Kouros has reached more in print than anyone through his very successful Par Bowling books, but has also traveled worldwide teaching the sport.

NFL all time great Lynn Swann to be inducted into Bowling Hall of Fame

Four-time Super Bowl Champion's passionate support for the sport of bowling earns him nod into his second hall of fame

NFLHallofFamerLynnSwann_small.jpgFormer National Football League (NFL) All-Pro, Super Bowl MVP and Hall of Fame wide receiver, Lynn Swann has earned many accolades throughout his career, however it's his enthusiasm for bowling that has made him a recognizable and supportive force and an ambassador for the sport. In honor of years of support and involvement in the bowling industry, The International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame announced today that Swann will be the third inductee into the Bowling Hall of Fame Celebrities Exhibit and the first to be inducted into the brand new museum to be completed in early 2010.

BPAA names 2009 Proprietors of the Year

Fourteen to be honored during International Bowl Expo 2009 in Las Vegas

2008BPAALogo.jpgThe Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA) announces its 2009 recipients of the distinguished Proprietor of the Year awards, which will be presented during BPAA's Annual Membership Meeting, Monday morning, June 22 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. The meeting is held in conjunction with the International Bowl Expo June 21-25 in Las Vegas. This will be the fifth year this prestigious award is being presented to a proprietor in each state who has been nominated by their respective BPAA-affiliated state associations for outstanding contributions to the industry and the sport of bowling.

Bowling proprietors look to make their world a smaller place

Global popularity of sport is seed of idea for international association

2008BPAALogo.jpg The Bowling Proprietors' Association of America board of directors has approved a recommendation by the group's International Relations Committee to create and pursue a plan to reach out to international proprietors. The approval was given during bowling's recent Mid Winter Summit in Napa, CA. The initial plan includes inviting bowling proprietors from around the world to the International Bowl Expo 2009 (IBE09) for the purpose of discussing the possible formation of what is tentatively being called the Bowling Proprietors' Association International (BPAI).

Bowling Industry announces 2009 Services Award Winners

Rex Haney to receive Victor Lerner Memorial Medal and Induction into BPAA Hall of Fame

2008BPAALogo.jpg The Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA) announced its list of 2009 Bowling Industry Service Award winners during their mid-winter summit at the Meritage Resort in Napa, CA, January 20. Rex Haney has been selected to receive the Victor Lerner Memorial Medal for a lifetime of service to the bowling industry. The medal is the highest honor in the bowling business and represents Mr. Haney's induction into the BPAA Hall of Fame located at International Bowling Hall of Fame and Museum relocating to the International Bowling Campus in Arlington, TX.

New York bowler wins bowling "Strike Bike"

Custom motorcycle designed by famed Orange County Choppers featured on show

2008BPAAStrikeBikewinnerSteveArndt_small.jpg The Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA) Beverage Committee congratulates Steve Arndt II of Waterloo, NY, on being selected as the grand prize winner in the 2008 "Win the Strike Bike" promotion. Ardnt is a league bowler at Falcon Lanes, a 16 lane center in Auburn, NY. The custom-designed bowling-themed motorcycle was built by the famed Teutul family at their Orange County Chopper facility in Newburgh, NY. Participants in the nationwide contest received a special code whenever they purchased a 44-oz Pepsi beverage in specially-marked Strike Bike cups that were only available in BPAA-Pepsi centers.

New bowling world record: More than half a million games played in a single day

548,721 games played across 808 centers as part of National Bowling Day Challenge

StrikeTenEntertainmentLogo.jpg Strike Ten Entertainment, the marketing arm of the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA), has announced a new bowling world record of the most games played in a single day. For the first time ever, more than 800 bowling centers joined forces in a nationwide challenge to record the largest number of games bowled during a 24 hour period. On National Bowling Day (August 30, 2008), 808 centers participated in the challenge, recording 548,721 games played.

Montana Teams claim 2008 QubicaAMF International Family Tournament titles

Each first place team received $5,000 scholarships

2008IFTWinners_small.jpg The state of Montana was well represented as Heather and 11-year-old daughter Keilei Kohlman of Billings, Mont., won the Parent-Youth division and Tana and 15-year-old Jake Lambert of Missoula, Mont., won the Parent-Teen competition at the 2008 QubicaAMF International Family Tournament held August 1-2 at Don Carter' All Star Lanes in Baton Rouge, La. Both first-place teams each won $5,000 scholarships to go towards their college education. Scholarships totaling $70,000 were distributed. All in all, 66 teams from 27 states, as well as Canada, competed in the Parent/Youth (33 teams) and Parent/Teen (33 teams) divisions at the IFT, celebrating its 33rd year.

BPA of Canada agrees to 100% membership in BPAA

Approximately 440 Canadian Bowling Centers to become BPAA Members

2008BPAALogo.jpg In an unprecedented move, the Bowling Proprietors' Association of Canada (BPAC) has entered into a 3-year commitment with the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA) to bring all of its approximately 440 bowling centers into BPAA membership effective August 1, 2008, according to BPAA and BPAC officials. In addition to Canadian bowling centers having 100 percent membership in BPAA, they will also have a seat on BPAA's Board of Directors during that same 3-year period.

McCarthy and Tatrow triumph at NPI $100,000 High School Open Singles Championships

McCarthy and Tatrow each won $15,000 in scholarship awards.

DHL becomes Official Shipping Partner for Strike Ten Entertainment

Logistics leader to handles shipping for BPAA's network of more than 3,400 bowling centers

DHLLogistics_small.jpg 2008BPAALogo.jpg DHL, the world's leading express delivery and logistics company, announced today that it has won a three-year, multimillion-dollar agreement with Strike Ten Entertainment, the marketing arm of the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA). Under the new agreement, DHL estimates it will ship an annual 20 million pounds of product and equipment to and from bowling centers, manufacturers and distributors.

Dick Ritger selected as first Bowling Coaches Hall of Fame inductee

2008BPAALogo.jpg Renowned bowling coach Dick Ritger has been selected as the first-ever inductee of the new Bowling Coaches Hall of Fame, recognizing superior coaching contributions to the sport. After days of application reviews and hours of discussion and voting, the Bowling Coaches Hall of Fame committee, comprised of chairman Jimmy Sturm, BPAA president-elect, Dave Garber - USBC co-director of coaching; Susie Minshew - IBPSIA past-president; Bob Rea - bowling coach/consultant (Bob Rea & Associates); Kelly Bednar - director of the STE Skills Center; and bowling writers Dick Evans and Jim Goodwin, the committee settled on Mr. Ritger.

BPAA announces 2008 Golden Pin Award recipients

Pennsylvanians hit the lanes to bowl for their candidate

2007BPAALogo.jpg Inspired by Senator Hillary Clinton's April Fool's Day bowling challenge to Senator Barack Obama, the Pennsylvania Bowling Proprietors' Association (PABPA), in tandem with Strike Ten Entertainment - the marketing arm of the national Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA), today announced a state-wide "Bowl Your Vote" challenge that will be executed across more than 130 bowling centers. On April 11, 12, and 13, and timed to the Democratic Presidential primary, state residents who bowl at PABPA centers will be able to vote for their candidate by donating their pin scores.

Applications are now available on several websites including Bowlingdigital.com.

C. from January 20th to the 24th. The highlight of the Summit was the decision of the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) board of directors to start negotiations with all parties involved to relocate its headquarters to Arlington, Texas.

BPAA Co-Endorses Integration with USBC

2007BPAALogo.jpg The Board of Directors of the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA), at its Board meeting on January 24, 2008 at the Bowling Summit, unanimously endorsed the proposal for purchase of a building and land in Arlington, Texas for an integration of facilities with the United States Bowling Congress (USBC). USBC's Board of Directors had met days earlier at the Summit and voted to pursue these negotiations.

Howard Baum, longtime bowling industry veteran and former BPAA Board Member has been selected as the 2008 BPAA Hall of Fame Inductee and recipient of the Victor Lerner Memorial Medal.
