Brunswick tapped as Bowling Equipment Supplier for the NBS of Turkmenistan

32-laner is slated to be one of the host venues for the upcoming 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games

BrunswickLogo_mini.jpgIndustry leader Brunswick Bowling recently signed a deal to supply and install all of the bowling equipment for the 32-lane National Bowling Stadium of Turkmenistan, currently under construction in the capital city of Ashgabat. The stadium is slated to be one of 12 world-class competition venues that will comprise the Ashgabat Olympic Complex – the host site for the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG). The 2017 edition of these Games is scheduled to pit 62 competing nations (the most ever) in 19 sports ranging from tennis to cycling to bowling and jujitsu to kickboxing to basketball.

Brunswick names Dream-Bowl Palace host of Brunswick Euro Challenge through 2018

2015BECLogo_small.jpgBrunswick Bowling officials have announced that the Dream-Bowl Palace will continue to host the annual Brunswick Euro Challenge through 2018. Since its start in 2004, the Brunswick Euro Challenge has established itself as one of the largest bowling events in Europe, attracting a mix of promising amateur players and PBA stars from Europe, Asia, and the U.S. The tournament has been held at the state-of-the-art, 52-lane facility in Unterföhring, Germany, for the past four years.

BlueArc Capital Management acquires Brunswick Bowling Products

BrunswickLogo_mini.jpgBrunswick Bowling Products announced today that it has been acquired by BlueArc Capital Management LLC, a private investment firm based in Atlanta, Georgia. Brunswick, the worldwide market leader in bowling products, is based in Muskegon, Michigan. BlueArc completed the acquisition with investments from Gladstone Investment Corporation, a publicly traded business development company in McLean, Virginia and Capitala Finance Corp., a business development company in Charlotte, North Carolina.



Bowlingdigital's Herbert Bickel selected for 2015 IBMA Luby Hall of Fame Award editor Herbert Bickel (pictured), one of the pioneers of online real-time coverage of bowling tournaments and news, has been chosen as the winner of the 2015 Luby Hall of Fame Award by the International Bowling Media Association. The award is presented to an individual who has made a distinguished contribution to print, broadcast, telecast or photographic coverage of bowling over an extended period of years. The award will be presented June 24 at International Bowl Expo in Las Vegas.



BPAA to honor Mark Voight with Victor Lerner Memorial Medal

2015BPAALernerMedalMarkVoight_small.jpg The Bowling Proprietors' Association of America (BPAA) has announced the recipients of the 2015 Bowling Industry Service Awards, the most prestigious awards presented by the bowling industry. Mark Voight (pictured), Community Bowling Centers, Livonia, Michigan, has been selected asthe 2015 BPAA Hall of Fame Inductee and recipient of the Victor Lerner Memorial Medal. The Lerner Medal is the highest honor awarded by the BPAA and recognizes an individual for a lifetime of service to the bowling industry.

The Bowl For Freedom promotion by Strike Ten is designed to build awareness of the support the bowling industry provides America's veteran and active duty service men and women.

Strike Ten Entertainment rolls out partnership with MillerCoors


Strike Ten Entertainment (STE), the bowling industry's marketing arm and sponsorship division, has announced that it has struck a two-year agreement with MillerCoors to become the "Official Beer Partner of Bowling." Chicago-based MillerCoors is the brewer of some of America's most popular beers. To further support efforts to build its beer business, Strike Ten Entertainment has hired an in-house Trade Brewer who will work directly with centers to provide training and educational tools.

Since 1995, the WTBA World Championships have been using Kegel equipment, chemicals, and technical staff during their events. Chris Chartrand (r.), Kegel President, and Kevin Dornberger (l.), WTBA President, have decided to continue this partnership and extend their contract for one additional year.

A very sad farewell to AMF legend, Bent Petersen 1932 – 2014

20141121BentPetersen_small.jpg QubicaAMF is saddened to hear of the passing of former Executive Vice President, Bent Petersen, who died peacefully at home on 21 November 2014. Bent, a much loved and respected member of the AMF family, retired from the company in 1998 after 36 years of loyal service. He looked after the Bowling World Cup until 1998 when he retired to Spain. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Julia, children Karin, Jens and Anne Marie, grandchildren and great grandchildren at this sad time.
