2016 Junior Gold Championships kicks off this weekend in Indianapolis

2016JGCLogo_small.jpg More than 3,300 youth bowlers, the largest field in tournament history, are scheduled to compete at the 2016 Junior Gold Championships presented by Storm, Roto Grip and Master, and the weeklong event will kick off with this weekend in Indianapolis with the trade show and opening ceremonies. The Junior Gold Championships features the top youth bowlers (U20, U15 and U12) in the country seeking national titles, spots on Junior Team USA and scholarship money.

The Under 20, Under 15 and Under 12 divisions remain, but the Under 8 division has been replaced by an Under 10 division. The Bowling.com Youth Open Championships is a national non-qualifying tournament open to all United States Bowling Congress Youth members. The 2016 event will take place over nine days starting July 14 at Expo Bowl in Indianapolis.

USBC Youth Open Championships begin Thursday

The Bowling.com Youth Open Championships begin Thursday at Orland Bowl in Orland Park, Illinois. The event takes place Thursday through Saturday and then returns July 16-26. The non-qualifying tournament is patterned after the USBC Open Championships and Women's Championships. Youth bowlers compete in team (four players), doubles, singles and all-events. The tournament, which will award an estimated $90,000 in scholarships this year, has four age-based divisions - U8, U12, U15 and U20.

2015 Youth Open to offer handicap option; West Region site is set

2013USBCYouthLogo_small.jpgThe 2015 Bowling.com Youth Open Championships will provide more opportunities for youth bowlers to grab a share of the scholarship fund and, for the third consecutive year, the event will hold a West Region tournament. This year, Cloverleaf Family Bowl in Fremont, California, will be the host center for the Youth Open West Region on June 20-21. Orland Bowl in Orland Park, Illinois, will host the 2015 Bowling.com Youth Open Championships from July 9-26.

Bowling.Com Youth Open has one perfect game, three multiple winners

BowlingcomYouthOpenChampionshipsLogo_small.jpg Eric Gauroniak of Palm City, Florida, had the only 300 game and three other youth bowlers each won multiple titles at the 2014 Bowling.com Youth Open Championships that recently concluded at AMF Thruway Lanes in Cheektowaga, N.Y. The Bowling.com Youth Open is a non-qualifying tournament open to all USBC Youth members. This year's event drew more than 1,200 participants and will award approximately $80,000 in scholarships.

Record field on tap for Junior Gold Championships in Buffalo next week

USBC Youth Open begin Thursday

2014JGCLogo_small.jpg The top youth bowlers in the country will head to the Buffalo, N.Y., area starting this weekend with dreams of earning spots on Junior Team USA and with more than $200,000 in scholarships on the line at the 2014 Junior Gold Championships. The event, which is presented by Ebonite, Columbia 300, Track and Hammer, officially gets underway with the first round of qualifying on Monday. A record 2,770 USBC youth members are eligible to participate in the event.

USBC Youth Open to give girls their own divisions in 2014

2012USBCYouthOpenLogo_small.jpg The United States Bowling Congress Youth Open Championships will have separate singles and doubles divisions for girls in 2014, and the Youth Open West Region tournament also will return in 2014. The 2014 Youth Open will be held at AMF Thruway Lanes in Cheektowaga, N.Y., from July 10-27. Cal Bowl in Lakewood, Calif., located near Disneyland and other tourist destinations in southern California, will host the West Region tournament June 21-22.

Detroit area to host 2013 North Pointe Junior Gold and USBC Youth Open Championships

USBCYouthLogo_small.jpgThe Detroit area will play host to bowling's biggest youth tournaments in 2013, the North Pointe Junior Gold Championships and the USBC Youth Open Championships. The North Pointe Junior Gold Championships will take place at Sunnybrook Lanes and Sterling Lanes, both in Sterling Heights, Mich., and AMF Rose Bowl in Roseville, Mich., from July 13-19, 2013. Sterling Lanes will be the site for the USBC Youth Open Championships, scheduled for July 11-28, 2013.

2011 USBC Youth Open records first 800 series, perfect games

More than 2,000 USBC Youth members participated in the tournament

2011USBCYOTristanMusick_small.jpgA record-setting performance by Tristan Musick (pictured left) highlighted the 2011 United States Bowling Congress Youth Open, which wrapped up competition on Sunday at South Point Bowling Center in Las Vegas. Musick, of Olathe, Kan., who was competing in his first USBC Youth Open, had games 256, 248 and 299 for an 803 series during singles competition on July 8. It was the first 800 series rolled in the history of the USBC Youth Open, which started in 2007. More than 2,000 USBC Youth members participated in the tournament.

Indianapolis will host USBC Junior Gold and USBC Youth Open in 2012

Each tournament will offer more than $100,000 in scholarships

USBCYouthLogo_small.jpgThe biggest youth bowling tournaments in the nation, the USBC Junior Gold Championships and the USBC Youth Open, will return to Indianapolis in 2012. Woodland Bowl, Western Bowl and Expo Bowl will be the host centers for Junior Gold with the semifinals and finals to be contested at Woodland Bowl. Expo Bowl will be the site of the Youth Open. The three centers played host to the events in 2009 and 2010.

Now, they are part of the event's first group of champions. Tim Pfeifer shot a 656 series to lead the Junior Team USA Boys to the Division 1 Team title with 2,480 at AMF Thruway Lanes in Buffalo, N.Y. Josh Blanchard added 651, Matt O'Grady shot 648 and Kyle Bischoff contributed 525.

2007USBCYOCMichaelRayes_small.jpg For almost a year, dozens of bowlers from Hudson Lanes in Jersey City, N.J., lived in anticipated for their trip to the 2007 United States Bowling Congress Youth Open Championships. The 40 bowlers formed 10 teams, all wearing matching shirts, to compete at AMF Thruway Lanes on Sunday morning in the inaugural Youth Open Championships, which began Friday and continues through July 21. "For the past year, our whole league has been focused on coming to this tournament," said 16-year-old Michael Rayes.
