Wichita State's Geoffrey Young, Newman's Georgia Drewes win Intercollegiate Singles titles

Semifinals and finals will be televised on CBS Sports Network on May 4 and 11


2012ISCGeoffreyYoung_small.jpgWichita State's Geoffrey Young and Newman's Georgia Drewes overcame the pressure of bowling under the lights of national television to win titles Saturday at the 2012 USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championships. Young (l.) won the men's title in convincing fashion, defeating Midland's Joe Steiner, 245-191, while Drewes (r.) took the women's title with a 204-147 victory over Nebraska's Elise Bolton.

Semifinals set for USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championships

2012ISCTop4_small.jpgThe four men and four women who will battle for collegiate individual titles on national television were determined Tuesday at the 2012 USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championships. Anthony Fiorezno, Geoffrey Young, Lucas Hohnstein and Joe Steiner all advanced to Saturday's semifinals in the men's division. Jazreel Tan, Georgia Drewes, Elise Bolton and Katelyn Zwiefelhofer advanced to the women's semifinals, also on Saturday.

Collegiate National Titles to be determined next week

USBCLogow_small.jpgThe nation's top college teams and individuals will battle for national championships when the USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships and the USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championships kick off April 17 at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, Neb. The championships are the pinnacle events of the college bowling season, which began in September. Defending men's team champion Fresno State and women's champion Maryland Eastern Shore return to defend their titles.

Intercollegiate Singles Championships field set

USBCISCLogo2_small.jpgThe field of 24 men and 16 women who will compete for individual national championships was determined Friday at four sectional qualifiers. The 2012 USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championships will take place April 17 and 21 at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, Neb., with the men's and women's finals broadcast on CBS Sports Network in May. Qualifying for the national finals was held in Allentown, Pa.; Euless, Texas; Fairview Heights, Ill.; and Smyrna, Tenn.

CBS Sports Network to air USBC Intercollegiate Team and Singles Championships

Dave LaMont will handle play-by-play, while USBC spokesman and Team USA member Chris Barnes will provide color commentary for the shows.

Sectional field announced for 2012 USBC Intercollegiate Team and Singles Championships

USBCITCLogo_small.jpgThe sectional-qualifying assignments were handed out Wednesday for the 2012 USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships. The four sectional qualifiers will be held March 10-11 in Allentown, Pa.; in Euless, Texas; in Fairview Heights, Ill.; and in Smyrna, Tenn. The top four teams in each division at each sectional will advance to the Intercollegiate Team Championships, which will be held April 19-21 at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, Neb. In addition, these four locations will host qualifying for the 2012 USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championships on March 9.

2012 USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championships moves to Nebraska with new format

USBCISCLogo2_small.jpgThe 2012 United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Singles Championships will have a new format and be held in conjunction with USBC Intercollegiate Team Championships at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, Neb. The singles event will take place April 17; team competition begins April 19. The new one-day format will consist of six games of qualifying followed by head-to-head match play. The match-play portion will feature three-game total pinfall matches.
