Storm, Roto Grip, Master to sponsor Junior Gold Championships 2015 & 2016

2015JGCLogo_small.jpg Storm Products Inc. and International Bowling Campus Youth Development have agreed on a sponsorship deal that will make Storm, Roto Grip and Master the presenting sponsors of the Junior Gold Championships. The Junior Gold Championships presented by Storm, Roto Grip and Master is a two-year agreement that will cover the 2015 event in Chicago and the 2016 tournament in Cleveland.

Six USBC youth members win national titles at 2014 Junior Gold Championships

2014JuniorGoldWinners_small.jpg Tylor Greene of Davison, Michigan, and Breanna Clemmer of Clover, South Carolina, claimed the 20-and-under titles at the 2014 Junior Gold Championships, while Adam Zimmerman of Deer Park, New York, and Ashley Channell of Morris Chapel, Tennessee, won the 15-and-under division. In the new 12-and-under division, Anthony Neuer of Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, and Madison Bailey of Rocklin, California, earned victories.

Record field on tap for Junior Gold Championships in Buffalo next week

USBC Youth Open begin Thursday

2014JGCLogo_small.jpg The top youth bowlers in the country will head to the Buffalo, N.Y., area starting this weekend with dreams of earning spots on Junior Team USA and with more than $200,000 in scholarships on the line at the 2014 Junior Gold Championships. The event, which is presented by Ebonite, Columbia 300, Track and Hammer, officially gets underway with the first round of qualifying on Monday. A record 2,770 USBC youth members are eligible to participate in the event.

Junior Team USA squad for World Youth Championships announced

Team USA program also announced the players who will represent the U.S. at Lee Evans Tournament of the Americas, Pan American Olympic Festival

The Championships will take place in Hong Kong from Aug. 8-15 and all rounds of the competition will be broadcast live on BOWL.com's BowlTV. Bowlingdigital will provide live coverage of the entire event. Team USA program has also announced the players who will represent the U.S. at Lee Evans Tournament of the Americas and the Pan American Olympic Festival.

Junior Gold program sets membership record

2014JGCLogo_small.jpg The Junior Gold program has set a record for memberships for the 2013-2014 season and the Junior Gold Championships presented by Track, Columbia 300, Ebonite and Hammer could break last year's record for number of participants. The Junior Gold program recently surpassed the 5,000-memberships barrier for the first time. The membership total shatters the record of 4,376 USBC Youth members who joined the Junior Gold program last season.

USA Bowling to hold eight regional events for youth teams

2014USABowlingRegionalTournamentLogo_small.jpg Eight centers across the country will hold USA Bowling Regional events this fall and registration now is underway for the team-based competitions. USA Bowling, a team-based youth program offered through the International Bowling Campus, was initiated to introduce youngsters to bowling and follows the same structure as other youth sports by placing children on a team, providing each team with a coach and then having regular practices along with weekly competitions.

California, Missouri bowlers selected as USBC Youth Ambassadors of the Year

Irene Wilson of Pinole, Calif., and Richard Hochecker IV of Ballwin, Mo., have been named the 2014 USBC Youth Ambassadors of the Year. Each year, one female and one male USBC Youth bowler are recognized for exemplary contributions to the sport, academic accomplishments and community involvement. The youth ambassadors, selected by the International Bowling Campus Youth Committee, each receive a $1,500 scholarship.

Zeb Scholarship awarded to Wisconsin youth bowler Michael Istvanek

2014ZebScholarshipMichaelIstvanek_small.jpg Michael Istvanek of Kenosha, Wis., has been selected as the recipient of the 2014 USBC Annual Zeb Scholarship. Each year, the $2,500 Zeb Scholarship is awarded to a USBC Youth member who is a junior or senior in high school, has a minimum grade-point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) and has given back to their community through service. Istvanek will receive an expenses-paid trip to the awards ceremony that will be held in conjunction with the Junior Gold Championships in the Buffalo, N.Y., area in July.

Gift For Life Scholarships awarded to 12 USBC youth bowlers

2013USBCLogo_small.jpgTwelve USBC Youth members have been selected to receive Gift For Life Scholarships. The International Bowling Campus Youth Committee selected the scholarship recipients. Gift For Life Scholarships annually are awarded to USBC Youth members who show the need for financial assistance to obtain a college education. High school students who are USBC Youth members, have a GPA of 2.5 or higher (based on a 4.0 scale) and who could show financial need, were encouraged to apply.

Arizona youth coach Lance Stern to receive 2014 David Dahms Coach of the Year Award

Lance Stern (pictured) of Yuma, Ariz., the youth director of the Yuma United States Bowling Congress association, has been selected to receive the 2014 David Dahms Coach of the Year Award. The award recognizes a coach who has been actively involved in a USBC Youth program and has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to coaching, sportsmanship and knowledge of USBC Youth rules. Stern will receive an expenses-paid trip to the 2014 USBC Convention in Reno, Nev., where he will receive the award.

Longtime Michigan leader Sharon Schildroth named Youth Volunteer of the Year

2014USBCYouthVolunteeroftheYearSharonSchildroth_small.jpg Sharon Schildroth of Grandville, Mich., has been named the USBC Youth Volunteer of the Year for her more than 30 years of service to youth bowling at the local, state and national levels. The prestigious award recognizes an adult volunteer who has displayed outstanding efforts to foster, organize and promote youth bowling. The award winner is determined by the IBC Youth Committee. Schildroth will receive an expenses-paid trip to the 2014 USBC Convention in Reno, Nev., where she will be presented with the award.

Oklahoma youth leader Tommy Gann to receive Kerm Helmer award

Tommy Gann of Sand Springs, Okla., who has been involved with youth bowling on the local, state and national levels for more than 20 years, is the 2014 Kerm Helmer Horizon Award recipient. The award is named in memory of the longtime Erie Community College coach. The award recipient is selected by the International Bowling Campus Youth Committee. As the Kerm Helmer Horizon Award recipient, Gann will receive an expenses-paid trip to the 2014 USBC Convention in Reno, Nev., where he will be presented with the award.

Sports Logic, IBC Youth completing work on new Youth Processing System

2013USBCLogo_small.jpgThe International Bowling Campus Youth Development team has teamed with Sports Logic Group to develop the new online portal that will be used to process youth membership as part of the new youth membership structure starting Aug. 1, 2014. When BPAA and USBC announced last August that the organizations were committing $5 million in support of a new youth membership and activation program, the development of a new online portal to process youth memberships was a key component.

Junior Gold adult spectator passes to benefit Yes Fund are now on sale

Image Beginning this year at the 2014 Junior Gold Championships in Buffalo, N.Y., all adult spectators will need to have an event pass to enter any of the bowling venues. Spectators 18 and under may attend free of charge. A one-day pass will cost $10 per adult and an all-week pass will cost $20 if purchased by July 1. All proceeds from sale of the passes will go to the Youth Education Services (YES) Fund to support youth bowling initiatives.

Junior Gold, which is presented by Ebonite, Columbia 300, Track and Hammer, and the Youth Open will head to Chicago in 2015, then to Cleveland in 2016 and return for the fifth time to Indianapolis in 2017.

BBBI will help expand the Mission Possible participating center base and assist these centers in their recruiting efforts to attract more kids to join one of the Mission Possible "8 for 8," "10 for 10" or "12 for 12" leagues.

Walker replaces attorney and financial consultant Sandy Hansell, who is retiring from the SMART Board. SMART is a scholarship management program for youth bowlers.

Brunswick, Kegel and QubicaAMF will add valuable bonus prizes to the $25,000 grand prize drawing to be held during Bowl Expo in Orlando, Fla., June 22-27, 2014.

Florida bowler becomes youngest USBC member to roll 300 game

20131117HannahDiem300_small.jpg Hannah Diem (pictured with mother Heidi) of Seminole, Fla., became the youngest USBC member to roll a certified 300 game Sunday when she ended her Youth/Adult Fall league session at Liberty Lanes in Largo, Fla., with 12 consecutive strikes. At 9 years, 6 months and 19 days, Hannah broke the previous overall record of 10 years, 2 months set by Chaz Dennis of Columbus, Ohio, in 2006 and shattered the girls' mark of 12 years, 4 months set by Brandie Reamy of Farmington, Mich., also in 2006.

U12, U15 champions crowned at USA Bowling Regional Tournaments

2013USABowlingLogo_small.jpg Eight team champions were crowned this fall as the USA Bowling program held its first regional tournaments. USA Bowling, a team-based youth program offered through the International Bowling Campus, held four USA Bowling Regional Tournaments and crowned team champions in Under 15 and Under 12 divisions at each tournament. This year's USA Bowling Regional Tournaments were the first step in the development of a premier event for youth team competition.
